The XOOM’s original list price of $799 was, to put it delicately, just slightly on the whacked-out crazy delusional insane side. But with a discount of more than half off for this refurbed model, it doesn’t look so crazy now. The 10.1” multitouch HD display, the 1GHz dual-core processor, the Android 3.1 OS, Google Talk video chat, Flash player capability: this candidate is back in the great tablet race.
Yes, Motorola was caught off-guard by how quickly that race was going to run. Yes, their lofty estimation of the XOOM’s market value needed to be taken down a peg or two (at current exchange rates of 1 peg = $216.73). But now that they’ve gotten in touch with reality, expect a few more people to get in touch with the Motorola XOOM.
