I don’t know how I was getting along all these years with just a desktop, laptop, and smart phone, but thank goodness they invented tablet PCs. I’ll admit, I was skeptical at first when I saw those iPad commercials. I wasn’t sure why I would want it, and I certainly couldn’t justify the price tag.
But this refurbished Archos 7 Home Tablet with Android, now THAT’S more my speed. I get a 7-inch touchscreen packing 16 million colors, Android 1.6, and 8GB of Flash Memory that I can expand with a micro SDHC memory card.
Sure, the touch screen is the clunky resistive type, and 8GB of memory isn’t a whole heck of a lot. But it’s shiny! Yeah, there’s no accelerometer or compass like an iPad, but that’s why I didn’t have to pay iPad prices. Okay, sure, it’s incompatible with any previous Archos tablet accessories, but that just means I’ll get to splurge on new ones! Well, yeah, there’s no video output or GPS ability or Bluetooth connectivity or Adobe Flash support and the app support isn’t so hot, but I got me a tablet! That’s all that matters! No more inferiority complex for me! YOU THINK YOU’RE BETTER THAN ME, MR. IPAD OWNER?! WELL YOU’RE NOT!
See it? Well sure, I’d show it to you, but I left it at home. I don’t really have any reason to carry it around.
