Finally. A Vacuum Cleaner I Actually Use!
By John H. on Reviewed in the United States on July 5, 2023
First, who am I? I'm 78 yrs old, a man, 6 ft, 180 lbs, active and enjoying life! Now you get a "feel" for who is using this vacuum. Do I own other vacuums (including a big corded Dyson) - yes. Why did I end up buying this one? Because I didn't use the others. Why? Too heavy, (big Dyson), too much effort getting them out and setting them up (Rainbows), too aggravating messing with the cord (all of them). Didn't I realize I needed to vacuum? Of course! It was just a royal pain in the butt. Enter the Dyson V15 cordless vacuum. Two things jump to my mind. First, it really works. The suction is very good, the attachments are easy to install and remove. It's easy to empty and it is durable. Second, I end up using it! I mean really using it. I have it mounted on one of the walls in my garage next to a power outlet. It's easy to retrieve and replace on its recharging cradle. It is not too heavy and it maneuvers like a dream. OK, here's the deal. If you have a lot of carpet in your house (me? I'm in a 3 bed, 2-1/2 bath home, carpet in the bedrooms, back hall, stairs and room above the garage, hard wood floors everywhere else with a few oriental area rugs - 2,400 sq ft, max) you're going to either have to get an extra battery or change the way you vacuum. No doing all the house at one time. If you want to do that, it's no big deal, really. This vacuum is so easy to use and so convenient I use it on the kitchen floor several times each week - especially after I've been cooking. Same with the bathrooms. Honestly, you find it's no hassle at all to just run to the vacuum, pull it off the wall and "take care of business". Do you need to be patient when you're running this thing over the floor? Yes. I don't mean you have to go at a "snail's pace". Can you race around with it and expect it to pick up absolutely everything? No. Honestly, you know how you're supposed to vacuum so do it the right way to begin with. I've always hated vacuuming the carpeted stairs. Lugging that vacuum up or down, trying to balance both the vacuum and me. Worrying about taking a dive and having to call EMS. You know, all those things that make you wish your stairs weren't carpeted in the first place! Well, let me tell you, this little jewel does a wonderful job. You just place whatever attachment you want to use directly on the vacuum body and it becomes a light, hand-held vacuum that you can easily stroke over each stair tread and riser while you are backing down the stairs. Hallelujah! And dust? It works like a dream. I've always felt I was simply pushing the dust around when I was using a cloth. If I sprayed the cloth I wondered about residue.....I know, it's just me. This thing picks up dust and traps it in the vacuum chamber so I can take it outside. It has a good filtration system so the air coming back into the room is clean. And, again....it's easy to use! I have even done my HVAC vents and my ceiling fans! Would you believe? OK, enough..... Bottom line? As I said, it works. It does what they said it was going to do. Do you need an additional battery (and charger)? Probably, but they are not absolutely necessary. Do I finally use a vacuum in my house? You bet! Would I buy it again? In a heartbeat!

Lasted only slightly over a year
By Thomas O. Meinen on Reviewed in the United States on March 31, 2025
A little over a year ago, I desperately needed a high quality vacuum to help rid my apartment of a flea infestation. I won't bore you with the details. In short, pesticides aren't enough to kill off fleas. You have to vacuum frequently to prevent new eggs from hatching. I had had a whole slew of cheap vacuum cleaners that didn't work out, so I googled what was the best vacuum cleaner money could buy. The name Dyson kept coming up, and their V15 was often mentioned. I decided it was time to invest a lot of money in order to get high quality in return. To say I regret this purchase would be a gross understatement. I liked it at first. It's easy to charge, and it has plenty of suction power. If only they had put some of that money into making the thing durable! After about 8 months, the floor attachment broke. At the time it wasn't a huge disaster because I don't vacuum floors all that much. The laser gizmo of that floor attachment is pretty cool, as it does help you to see the dirt, but that doesn't do me much good if the attachment quits working. But I muddled on since the rest of the unit works fine, and I can sweep my floors. Then the basic hose attachment developed cracks, but quit working. I figured I could keep going if I replaced just that part. Unfortunately, today I went to vacuum my place, only to learn that the vacuum has completely quit working. I had the battery plugged in to charge overnight, but this unit gets no power at all. It's completely dead. It can't help me get my carpets clean any more than a brick can. I bought this on January 17, 2024 and received it about a week later. I'm writing this on March 30, 2025. This thing has lasted slightly longer than a year. When you pay $680 for a vacuum cleaner, you expect it to last much longer than that. At the time I was shopping for a new vacuum, I considered hunting around for one of those Kirby vacuum cleaners that are built like a tank. Those aren't cordless, are extremely loud, and aren't all that user friendly, but I would much rather have one of those because of how sturdy they're built. They last for decades. I wasn't expecting the Dyson to last for decades, but half a decade for over 600 bucks would have been nice. I haven't even paid this thing off yet. I bought it on my credit card, something I would not normally do, but I was desperate to rid myself of this flea infestation. I did succeed in doing that via a lot of hard work, and the vacuum did work well at first to help me do it. However, I don't see any point in owning a vacuum with good features if the thing just dies in slightly over a year. I wish I had gotten something else. For over 600 bucks, you would think there would be something that would last. I cannot caution you enough to avoid this vacuum! I believed the good reviews because they greatly outnumbered the bad ones. However, consider this: If I had reviewed this a month or two after having bought it, my review would have been glowing too. It's features are good, and it's easy to use. However, all of that is negated since I didn't even get a year and three months worth of service out of it. I used this device daily when I was busy ridding my place of the flea problem, but that was only for about a month. After that, I used it just once or twice a week. If you read through all my reviews, you'll see that I rarely give negative reviews. Most of the time, my thorough shopping research helps me find something that's just right. This misfire has hit me like a punch to the gut. I will try to find out if their warranty department will help me, but I'm not hopeful after having read the other bad reviews. I could also try to find a third party that could fix it. I'm ultra busy right now, making that a hassle. If you're considering buying this, I have one short piece of advice for you: DON'T! I've never regretted a purchase more.
