Cuisinart 2-Slice Digital Toaster with MemorySet

My toaster worked fine for about three days. Then I started getting toast that was only cooked on one side. This was happening on both slots of the two-slice toaster. When I looked inside the toaster, the heating coils on the outside of each slot were not turning all the way on, while the inside coils were still working fine. After checking out each setting, I phoned customer support, and the unit is defective. Something is very wrong with toasters these days. My Calphalon four-slice lasted for 15 years, but after purchasing four different toasters in the last six months, it appears to be impossible to get anything that works.
