Gamechanger for freedom of mobility
By Tony gifts on Reviewed in the United States on November 24, 2019
I haven't needed tech support but everything else has been 5 stars. Full disclosure I have an ES4 with the extra battery. The extra battery has counteracted all the negatives from the reviews I read. 'Not as long as advertised' and 'hard time making it up inclines' were the 2 main issues other users were stating. Another issue users were complaining about was from the ES2 and ES3's and involved the electronic brake not working properly. Luckily, I've not had any issues with my ES4 firmware.I am disabled in such a way I simply have very low energy so I also have the seat attachment. I chose this model because Segway is a very known brand versus all the others I looked at in the same price range. It has 2 'no-flat' tires which was a must for me. It cannot be used in rain (like most e-scooters) however if you have a large poncho stored with it you can get caught in a surprise storm and not ruin your battery if you immediately seek shelter. I don't have a license and I use a scheduled shuttle service to get to certain places which takes at least 24 hours to schedule. Ever since getting this scooter I've been able to actually see a movie in the theater and each at fast food restaurant! Sounds mundane but anyone with lack of mobility will know exactly how nice it is to have that freedom back. Of course, I like in an idea city that is close together lots of great sideways and very bike friendly. I don't use bike lanes (just sidewalks) but I could in a pinch. I've been using it regularly for a couple months and have had zero issues. It works in the cold for short trips just don't charge it when the battery is too hot or cold. Even using it semi-heavily (~20 minutes a day) it only requires charging once a week. My only complaint, which doesn't warrant a star off, is that when its done charging it doesn't automatically turn off. It DOES stop charging (so you don't ruin your battery by overcharging) but it does stay on and if you leave the under lights on your just asking for a higher electric bill if you forget and let it charge all night. It only took about 3 hours to charge from completely drained. It also turns heads a lot - very stylish. I have a kryptonite padlock and it is just small enough to go through the back tire effectively "booting" the scooter.I would recommend a front carrying case for storing a poncho and your lock. I'd also recommend a carrying strap as it's weighted very weird when folded and doesn't just roll like a luggage suitcase. I really can't put in to words how thankful I am for this purchase. Oh yeah, its also super quiet - might want a bell or horn if you have narrow sidewalks or a mirror attachment for the right side. I wouldn't recommend a cell phone holder because I couldn't find one for less that 100$ that would actually work - seriously, you need a motorcycle grade holder or you might as well throw your phone to the ground and cut out the middle man. I simply wheel the whole scooter into restaurants and stores for paranoia reasons - has never been an issue yet. In the movie theater they actually let me lock it in an outdoor closet only the managers had access too - real peace of mind.Again, I can't say enough about how happy its made me. I rented a LIME prior to this and its just like having a rental scooter but has a seat and is always around when you need it. And at ~4.25$ for 20 minutes for the rental and 2$ a shuttle ride - it will pay for itself after about a year. Assuming Segway is good with their 2 year warranties: best scooter available that has a seat accessory.

UPDATE: IT GOT WORSE the road to hell....
By mar go on Reviewed in the United States on December 12, 2020
UPDATE 8/30/22: IT GOT WORSE! i got a replacement, and after about 2 months of riding, it started throttling and beeping while charging... the batteries were not drawing power at the same rate, the external battery disappeared from the app and the internal was drained. when charging, it beeps until the until internal battery was charged to about 50% or got close up whatever the external was at, then the beeping would stop and they both charged together. got a SECOND REPLACEMENT, AND THEY BOTH ARE DOING THE SAME THING NOW, IN ABOUT 100 DAYS , THEY BOTH THROTTLED TO 13MPH AND WON'T CHARGE CORRECTLY, and makes the scooter useless and dangerous, you can't even just take the external battery off and use as the cheaper es2. segway solution is seems it to them and they'll take care of it... and send a replacement if they can't repair.... did I mention the replacement FAILED THE SAME WAY?? this is a KNOWN issue to segway, BUT THEY JUST KEEP SELLING THEM AT TWICE THE PRICE I PAID 2 YEARS AGO! I have 2 useless scooters and no way to commute for the MONTHS IT TAKES SEGWAY TO REPAI/REPLACE.DO NOT BUY! DO NOT BUY! DO NOT BUY! DO NOT BUY!DOOOOOO NOOOOTTTTTT BUUUYYYYYY!!!UPDATE 10/6/21: the rear fender AND brake just cracked and fell off the scooter at a red light. the lights stopped working, and the somehow the battery became disconnected? i started the repair process in JUNE and they got back to me right away and sent out a return label. unfortunately i wasn't able to pack it up for shipping (no tape) and let time slip by (thanks pandemic!), so by the time i was able to get tape about 3 weeks had passed and i wasn't sure if the label was any good anymore, so i tried to contact them... this is where everything else went to hell - they told me the label was no good and they'd send another- then, they didn't. then i decided to try chat again and i find out SEGWAY WAS MOVING FROM TEXAS TO CALIFORNIA AND WASN'T ABLE TO TAKE REPAIRS AND TO WAIT A WHILE - so i emailed to ask how long and got no response so i left it alone for 2 weeks. then i checked back in and someone had responded the next day (EYEROLL PLEASE) and now no one was responding. FINALLY someone answers my email and asks for my shipping address again, so i give it, and nothing..... so i chat again, and guess what? THEY DON'T HAVE PARTS OR REPLACEMENTS! so they have no way to tell me how long they'll have the scooter before anything can get done; so they said they'd refund the thing. great, except they sent a new label with an rma that said i could track the repair, and now no one is responding to my email asking "how long for the repair" or "am i getting the refund they said i'd get" so i'm not sending the thing to have it held hostage. WHAT A CRAP SITUATION WITH SEGWAY! i missed the ENTIRE SUMMER because of this bs. i had a lot of fun when it worked and wasn't falling apart. i alsmost killed myself in a human scorpion back in february, and it was still worth it - now it isn't anymore. the worst part is that i purchased the extended amazon warranty but it doesn't kick in until the manufacturers' warranty expires and that means letting segway ignore me for another 2 months. notice my original review also complained about customer service and i guess that's a pattern. ↓the es4 came locked at a 5.8mph speed limit in all 3 modes. customer service is a joke, they know resetting doesn't fix this problem, but they keep telling you that anyway. i get the feeling their cs is reading a manual and have no idea what they're talking about. they tend to encourage you to replace it like the next one won't have the same problem. I'm probably returning not replacing specifically because i can't risk a replacement going on the fritz after the extended warranty amazon sold me runs out because i don't trust segway ninebot customer service to be able to help after its too late to return/replace. too bad too, because i do like the scooter i just need it to do what it advertised.
