Perfect Blend of Style and Functionality
By james on Reviewed in the United States on March 22, 2023
Coming from a household of both Google Assistant devices and Pixel phones, having another Google accessory device is a given. As both my girlfriend and I have Pixel phones with wireless charging, I felt it was time to invest in both normal wireless charging pads around the house and this Pixel Stand for our individual work spaces.First off, LOVE the design of the stand, looks very futuristic and simple at the same time. Easily fits into any given space and compliments it very well. One of the things that made me choose this over the Gen 2 version, it's very bland and too overpriced being the other major reason. It does it's job well as well, charges decently and no issues about just setting it on the charger and doing it's thing, which can be an issue with wireless chargers at times. That is, being quite finicky and particular about how it's set against your phone to charge or charge it properly. No issue with that here, the rubber lip at the bottom holds it in place securely and prevents you from setting in a misaligned position.Other than that, the other nice addition is that it turns your Pixel phone from a mobile Google Assistant into a more dedicated version of one, more akin to hybrid version of a Nest Hub and a Nest speaker. Obviously it favors more the latter. Admittedly, it's not a feature I use much, as I already have dedicated Nest speakers around the house for smart home integration, but it is nice to have, especially if you don't have those things.Really, for the price this particular version is going for, it's totally worth it. It's aesthetically pleasing, does it's job well and has nice added features and gimmicks to choose it if you have a Pixel phone. It certainly beats paying out $80+ for the Gen 2 and getting very little in terms of an upgrade. Mind you, if you don't own a Pixel phone, it serves no purpose than being a Google branded Pixel wireless charger. With that in mind, it's all about whether you want to just charge your phone or do that and have more accessibility functions added to your phone experience. If you're more the former, you COULD just skip this, but if you're the latter, it's DEFINITELY for you. Either way, I'd easily recommend it to other Pixel owners with phones equipped with wireless charging.

Doesn't Work Well with Google Device
By Clay Aiken on Reviewed in the United States on January 9, 2021
I have a Pixel 5 and got excited about the wireless charging so figured I would stay in the Google family and get a charger that is designed to work with Google stuff. Unfortunately it is too weak to power through the phone case, and figuring that means I have to take the case off each night I did that and it still wouldn't charge, or if it did, it would be trickle charging. I tried it with other power blocks thinking maybe the Google one was bad, and it won't even power on with other USB-C 18W AC adapter blocks unless it is the Google one. I tried the cable that came with my previous Pixel thinking maybe the cable was bad but still only works with the Google power block. Since it is so darned finicky and since it seems to be designed to keep your phone at JUST the right angle that any bump to the table will send it sliding off the slight rubber bump at the bottom and since I can't use it with any case, it is totally useless to me now. It is just another product I fell for because of brand loyalty. Extremely disappointed in the proprietary nature of the product as well as the lack of apparent quality. It seems they spent more money making the fancy box it came in then making the actual product. I have given up on wireless charging and will now be going back to old fashioned plug in the cable technology because:1.) It works EVERY time2.) It charges fast3.) I can use any decent cable4.)I can charge without having to remove the phone from its protective caseIt isn't all bad though; I now use it as a door stop to keep the door knob in my bedroom from marking the wall when I swing the door open too wide.
