Superior Fan
By Ashley Riley on Reviewed in the United States on July 5, 2023
I am so happy I spent the months leading up to my birthday rallying my frugal husband to purchase this for me. At first, I was unsure about buying a pre-owned fan, but I am so happy that I was able to save $100 over buying the brand new version (and my husband was, too). The fan I received was renewed by Dyson, meaning they took apart the fan, cleaned and fixed it, and essentially made it “like new” again. Because it was renewed by Dyson themselves, it comes with a one year warranty. There are some slight cosmetics defects, but they are so minimal that they’re inconsequential. Everyone knows that Dyson products are fantastic, and this one is no exception. I’ve been using the fan for over a month now and I am struggling to think of anything that I don’t like about it. It has WiFi connect-ability and I love being able to control the fan via Alexa and my phone, as well as the controller that comes with the fan. With the Dyson app, I can see the indoor and outdoor temperature, humidity level, and air quality (this feature is particularly important since we live in a region with wildfire smoke). I love that it improves the air quality of our bedroom because of the HEPA filter. I can also see and receive alerts about the quality of the filter and when it needs to be replaced. Overall, one of the best purchases I’ve made for our home, and planning on getting more in the future for additional bedrooms.

Stopped working after only 5 days
By HPark on Reviewed in the United States on April 26, 2018
I bought this fan and it worked great for 5 days. Yesterday, the fan just stopped working...no error message on the display. I have a couple of issues with this...1) Obviously, the fan should still be working. I am in the process of trying to figure out what is going on.2) The manual is very sparse on information. There should be much more detail about setup and troubleshooting.2a) I think that I have figured out the issue...blown fuse on the plug. But, this information is only mentioned in a "fine print" blurb on one of the last pages of the manual. At the time of stoppage, there was no power surge or outage in my apartment, so I think that it is just a cheap fuse that blew out early. In any case, I feel like I shouldn't be in this position after only 5 days. Hopefully, it's not a bigger issue with the motor or something else.I will try and find a replacement fuse to see if that resolves the issue and update this review if necessary.UPDATE: Replaced the fuses in the plug and it still will not start up. I will be returning this item as it has an electrical problem and does not work after 5 days of use.

refurbished produced, had a few minor scratches, nothing that wasn't expected for a refurbished item. App works well, at least after I updated the firmware, tracks the air quality/temp/humidity over time-very nice analytics. This thing is very quite-very very quite perfect for a bedroom and worth the money compared to some other filters, no noise what-so-ever and looks great. Set up was easy as it could be and the options for desired air quality, auto mode, timer, etc are very nice!.

Some visible cosmetic damage, but gets the job done

There is some clear and obvious cosmetic scuffs and damage when viewed relatively closely. However, given that me (or anyone else) typically views fans up close, it's fine sitting in the corner, so I think the refurbished discount is still worth it.The size and functionality of this thing is fantastic. It doesn't take up a lot of room. The dyson app works great and has a lot of gadgets to show your air quality.Edit: docking one star for poor Google Home support. You’d think a fan as expensive as this would have better google assistant support.

At first i was skeptical when it arrived because it was so light and flimsy, however i am amazed at how well its held up from my toddler knocking it down constantly. And the air quality has improved so much that i barely need my inhaler now.. My asthma is bad and this has helped more than medication! Also i love the Wi-Fi connection, it tells me what the current air quality is and you can set it on auto to keep your air at a good target.. Im more impressed than i thought i would be!!!
Great for open concept spaces

It's tricky to select an air purifier for modern, open concept spaces. This purifier projects clean air outward in a gentle wave where it's needed - to those breathing it. Otherwise, the CFM requirement to scrub all the air in very open floor plans would require either a huge capacity conventional machine or multiple smaller ones. The Dyson has true HEPA filtration and a neat smartphone interface. It is sufficiently quiet to not compete with TV watching from level 1-5. Higher speeds generate more noise than many would find acceptable. The quality of the air is much improved in our open concept family room and kitchen with the Dyson. Refurbished is the way to go to save some cash.
Be prepared for oscillating function to fail.

The product is excellent at sensing the need for increased filtering/fan in auto mode. The air quality is substantially better. However, the oscillating functions fails quite easily and often because the motor bearings seize. I would expect better performance for such a hefty price. Second time in about a year that the oscillating function has failed.

I love that this fan automatically adjusts when it detects higher polutants in the air. The app makes it really interesting to see what your air quality is like. We've had trouble finding the replacement filters in stores, but if you plan to buy them online, then that's not an issue. It is shorter and better sized than I had origionally expected. Of all of us, our cat is the most amazed by it. He spent hours the first few days trying to figure out where the air was coming from, and jumping back and forth through the fan. So, if nothing else, it's a really expensive cat toy, that your furry friend might enjoy for a few days until they find a piece of trash they'd rather play with.We have ours on a shelf across the room from our bed, and it still provides that level of cooling relief all the way across the room, that we've been looking for. Impressed with the sleek and modern look of this fan.
Refurb is the way to go

This is my second Dyson refurbed product in the house and it's definitely the way to go. You save a ton of money and still get the Dyson quality and serviceability. I was looking at some other fancy air purifiers but couldn't pass up a sale on a Dyson refurb.Having a "smart" air purifier is probably overkill but this has turned out to be pretty useful. At first I was confused about what it was trying to do with itself in regards to when to turn it on or off, or at what level to set it. But after a while I realized that it was "learning" my habits so now it just kicks on shortly after I go to bed, self adjusts itself based on the built in Auto feature, and turns itself off in the morning. Maybe that's a little scary but it's definitely convenient and it helps me sleeps better. So I for one will welcome our robot overlords.
