Skip to "I HAVE BEEN WAITING" to read only about Ziggy.

I have endometriosis and extremely heavy/long flows. I've ruined sheets, mountains of panties, and even a comforter or two in my day. I am used to waking up 2+ times a night for 2-3 days of my cycle at a minimum. Super plus tampons would last me an hour or two on my "fetal-position-cramping-out-clots" kinda days (sorry if TMI but you are reading a menstrual disk review. Lol. I then found Diva Cup (SZ 2) It was the beginning of my life altering journey with reusable feminine hygiene products. I was elated at the savings to the bank account monthly and the planet ultimately. I still had heavy heavy flows that lasted between 8-11 (on the rare occasion 14) days at a time. Then enter Flex discs. I initially tried them because I was in a new relationship, in love, and a third to almost a half of the month I was bleeding. Mess free period sex? Sign me up!!! It was rarely mess free but a HUGE (gigantic, massive, unbelievably drastic) difference when compared to the crime scene which would have occurred if not for flex. After using for 6 months or so I realized (by way of my period tracker) that my cycle was getting less heavy, painful and the duration was lasting less and less lengthy. I don't know the science behind it but I feel it's something to do with the fact that after removing tampons from entering my body I was keeping the fluids that are MEANT to remain in a woman's body. Tampons suck it all out of you. If you've ever used too large a size close to your last flow days and removed a dry tampon from your body you know how dry your lady can wind up with those things. She's meant to be moist and slick and wet, right? So after years of missing school in high school, college classes, and even work from horrible cramps and stuck-to-the-toilet flow days my body was screaming at me "THANK YOU FOR NOT PUTTING COTTON INSIDE ME!"flex discs literally saved my womanhood. My cycles now last less than 7 days typically and I even splurged on a new mattress pad, bamboo sheets, and VS panties 😸 my only reservation was that they were disposable. If I was at home I would rinse them in the sink and reuse like I would a cup but still felt bad about the landfill and all the extra trash.I HAVE BEEN WAITING SO LONG FOR THIS PRODUCT!!!I received my Ziggy on the end of my cycle and being a flex disc user I knew exactly how to get it done. The packaging was beautiful. So simple to open (just a tab that unsticks from both top and bottom in one motion like a pull ribbon under cellophane) no cutting into hard plastic or anything dangerous. I honestly didn't look at the written info sheet but read the box. I boiled it and let it cool. With flex I have to make sure there is some type of liquid/fluid remaining before I can insert the product painlessly or without discomfort. Usually at home I can reach in the shower and turn on the water if necessary to use, or not wipe and there will be enough blood to ease things in without an "ouch". This was no different except without the added "lube" it isn't at all uncomfortable. It's just a tad more difficult. I had to use added effort and force the Ziggy into myself a lot more clumsily. Once slid into place (all the way until my pointer can't push it anymore) and tucked up (pointer finger pressing up on the outer rim of the disc. Your finger should feel the difference between your vaginal wall and pelvic bone I believe? You can feel the "drop down" when you're inside in the right spot) the Ziggy is just as unnoticeable as the disposable discs. Everything is exactly the same JUST REUSABLE! With my monthly subscription to flex I was getting removal gloves that seconded as a baggie to dispose of the disc when out and about with a strip of adhesive and everything. When at home I usually just rinse my hand under the tub faucet (as it's closer and less likely for me to drop a mess getting my hand to it) or in the sink if the disc hadn't spit out it's contents on my hand in the removal process. I read reviews stating this main reason as a deterrent of using this product but at 38 years old and the god awful cycles I've had before, this isn't at all a deal breaker for me after seeing (and feeling) the difference in comfort AND the effects it's had on my cycle it's self. I highly recommend this to anyone who has unusually heavy, painful, and/or long cycles but I do have some thoughts/tips/tricks/comments for anyone new to the disc life. LolIf you insert the Ziggy (or flex) and are unsure of it's placement just remove it and try it again. I've found if I can't feel it (like when it's not pushed in far enough and it's pressing on the pubic bone and not resting BEHIND it) then it's typically good to go and your body's movement should get it right where it needs to be before any flow would come out anyway. Also, almost like a tampon, if it's not either full or coming up on 12 hours it can be difficult to remove. Don't freak out if your finger can't grab the edge. Your body won't let it stay there forever. Try to pee in a half hour or so and try again. It usually does the trick. Reusable menstrual cups/discs all have to be rinsed. In public restrooms that means picking the right stall and sometimes holding off til you find somewhere more private/ with better washing conditions but with a 12 hour window you usually have time. Until I got used to insertion and removal I always wore a pair of super absorbent undies jic. Or a panty liner/pad. And at night I even used pupoy piddle pads to sleep on to try and save my linens. I know this is a long review and I'm not a doctor/scientist/or spokesperson but I really believe in these products (both the Ziggy and the flex (cause flex is that OG baby!) And I'm just so thrilled they made a reusable one! Thank the lady gods for Ziggy.

Comfortable, cost effective but important to choose the right size
By Lauren in Texas on Reviewed in the United States on February 6, 2025
I had been seeking a suitable alternative to tampons and looked into menstrual cups. I was hoping this would be a great solution, something that would be able to handle any flow and also possibly be able to be worn during intercourse. While this is made of a nice soft material and feels comfortable to wear, I think it's very important to choose a correct size. If I had realized that before purchasing, I may have sought a petite size that I read this company offers of the same product. The lip around the edge is supposed to prevent any leaks but I'm not sure it's really able to do that adequately, since you are giving up some of the protection for the comfort and flexibility you gain. And upon removal if you leave it too long, it's not really pleasant as it can be a messy endeavor. I could have possibly dealt with that aspect but the main reason I thought this product would be useful, so that it could be worn during intercourse, was a no go, since I discovered that it has a tab pull intended to be helpful in removing but that would definitely hinder any kind of intercourse, being in the way. This could be better suited to someone who isn't using it for that purpose, as long as they make sure to choose an appropriate size. Other than that, the packaging is nice and good that they included a carrying case in the same material. It could be really cost effective, because you can re-use it after washing, but again, only if you choose the correct size. And it's unfortunate that there are only two sizes to choose from. One other observation I can make is that compared to other cups with more rigid cup edges, this one is FAR more comfortable. It's not a major hassle inserting or removing and it's never painful or uncomfortable. So if this is your favorite choice for flow protection, then if you get the right size for yourself and don't mind disposing and reinserting somewhat frequently, this product is likely a great choice.
