Great for its intended purpose
By Blue Morpho on Reviewed in the United States on July 21, 2016
We needed a shoe rack in a visible spot near our front door -- one that would be easy for people to use so the shoes would end up in it, not beside it on the floor. This rack fills the purpose well and looks much better than the particleboard rack that preceded it. It holds about three pairs adult size shoes per shelf (could hold more if they were small adult or kid size). Two members of the household wear mens size 11 and it fits their shoes but not hiking boots. If you need to know whether certain shoes will fit on the rack or the rack will fit where you want to use it, look at the measurements in the description -- they're accurate. The finished bamboo is nice-looking, and although the screws are visible after assembly they are a brass-tone. The rack would look fine anywhere that you might be inclined to keep shoes in public view -- not fine formal furniture but nice-casual. It took less than half an hour to assemble. It would be easier with two people but one can do it. You just need to be careful especially at the beginning as the bamboo is fairly lightweight. There's a "right" and "wrong" side of each shelf (covered nail holes in wrong side) but you have to look closely to tell which is which. You can pick which side you want to be at the front, though I didn't find a lot of defects in the bamboo, so it didn't matter much. Although the wood is predrilled I think you'll get more satisfactory results if you take special care to drive the screws in at a straight (right) angle. One screw that came with mine was defective -- the hole that the included allen wrench was supposed to fit in was filled with a blob of metal. I immediately e-mailed the manufacturer, and the next morning they had a replacement (actually two) on the way -- arrived in the mail two days later. Excellent customer service. I guess the other thing someone might wonder is about "alternative" uses. The size of this rack and spacing of shelves work very well for shoes. The vertical supports are in two pieces held together by screws, and while it's plenty strong enough for shoes or similar weight objects, I'd be hesitant about loading it with a lot of heavier items such as textbooks. It's possible to leave out a shelf for taller items (including boots), though then there would be an empty screw-hole you might want to plug.

In the end it turned out sort of OK, I guess.

*quick update* CSR for these guys is really tenacious and offered me a refund or a half refund and a replacement. Full marks for CSR, but in honesty I just don't want to deal with another unit. I'd consider another product by SONGMICS based on their CSR.Reading some of the reviews here, I must be an assembly idiot, but in truth I don't think I am. If they just wouldn't have went with the stupid allen wrench screws. 75% of them were mis-manufactured just enough to where the wrench just could not turn them. This turned what should've been, per other reviews, about a 15 minute project into 2 hours frustration.Once assembled, it wobbled like crazy. So disappointing. I actually had a feeling it would just holding the two main side pieces against my (level) floor before assembly, but I was thinking it would only take 10 minutes to screw together, but that didn't turn out to be right. On the small plus side, I was able to glue various widths of cardboard to two of the offending legs until the unit to get it to feel "acceptable" in sturdiness. I can't really fit 3 of my shoes side by side by side on any of the shelves, but I have big feet (12.5m) so that's kinda "my bad."In the end, the thing is only fifty bucks so it's certainly either going in my apartment or in the trash; my time is worth more than that to hassle with a return. For now it's in my apartment, but I don't love it. It seems reasonable that I got a slight dud, but you can't give a glowing review for a dud, right?

Great rack for organizing shoes

This is the best practical solution for the shoes that scattered on the entry floor. This rack helps a lot with organizing the shoes plus it's easy for us to find our shoes because they are now staying in one place. The bamboo wood looks nice and good design. Assembly was no problem, it's very easy with no tools at all. The wood is a 2 piece laminate so will withstand over tightening of screws that hold shelves, so don't worry how tight you can go when tightening screws. The two piece laminate construction of the storage rack sides also means that after years of use the planks will not crack. The shelves are held to the sides with 2 in screws. Do assemble shelves bottom up, as per instructions provided, this will make shelves easy to slide in position from the top. Note, the rack sides have flat inside and leveled outside for better looks. It is possible to construct the entire assembly leveled side in so, please, pay attention when installing the first bottom shelf. . The tops of the storage rack sides are finished with handles which is a very nice touch. It took 15 minutes to assemble but if it takes you longer it's well worth it
Excellent quality.

I got this shoe rack in October 2017 and it has been very useful and remains in great condition, is very sturdy, looks nice and can hold 18 pairs of shoes (size 11), I put it together in minutes, It was very easy.Is made of bamboo and makes it look elegant and no too heavy. You don’t have to use it for shoes necessarily, it can work for storage of any other items.
Very happy with this. Good value and better than some more expensive models

I have tried a few shoe racks, including some very "upscale" cedar units. This, in my mind, hits the right price/value balance. I have had mostly "open" shelves (slats, really) and debated going with a more typical bookshelf based shelf model. I can say that I like the shelves more than I like the open design, but I haven't put wet/damp shoes away yet. The six self model is tall, which, with out any diagonal bracing, means there is a fiar amount of side to side "sway" in the unit no matter how tight you assemble the shelves. I knocked a star off for this as it would be possible to either add a diagonal member, or have some/all of the shelves connect to the sides with an "L" piece that helps this without adding too much cost.Assembly: very easy. I did it myself and the only concern I had was being sure not to let each shelf "hang free" after one side was attached (stressing the wood and the screws. The strength required to tighten the screws sufficiently would, in my mind, be a bit much for someone with arthritis/carpal tunnel/ etc. The hex key included isn't long enough to provide the leverage to make it really easy to tighten the screws the last 1/4 inch. Tho.. I don't consider this a negative, get a set of longer hex keys (they seem to be used everywhere) and that should be all you need.Space: The shelves are a tiny bit too close together for my tastes. I wear size 12 mens and my New Balance 990s just fit. Dress shoes don't have the issue. I would also like the unit to be about 2-3 inches wider. I can comfortably fit 2 pairs of trainer across, but not 3. Another 2 inches and 3 across would fit nicely. Smaller shoe sizes may have better luck.Look/finish: Just fine. This isn't fine furniture, but looks nice enough to put by our back door. When assembling, I did get a splinter from running my finger across a rough edge, but I wouldn't describe this as "unfinished" just a property of bamboo that it trends to be fibrous on squared edges.Strength: I'll comment that the shelves actually appear to be able to hold more weight than I expected. I wouldn't put a backpack on this or anything, but we use the top shelf for misc things that way far more than a set of shoes.Overall I' am very happy with this and would certainly buy another from this same manufacturer.
They turned out to be super amazing. Assembly was really easy

I wasn't sure what to expect with these (I purchased two!). They turned out to be super amazing. Assembly was really easy. The shelf feels of decent quality and looks great. It holds all of my shoes. I fit three pairs on each shelf side-by-side and a fourth pair with one shoe on top of the other at the end of each shelf for a total of 24 pairs. I put my tall boots on the top shelf with a boot thing that helps them stand up. Since I did not need the second shelf for my shoes (surprised the first one held them all), I decided to use it for small books and knick knacks in my bedroom. I love it!
Attractive and sturdy

This is among the nicer shoe racks for the price I have seen yet. Assembly was easy and all holes lined up perfectly. It holds 3 or 4 pairs per shelf. It's deep enough for my ladies size 8, myou running shoes and my Uggs. I love the solid shelf vs those bars where one has to always set the shoes just so. This one is not stackable but it's pretty tall and stacking 2 such units would be too much. I only wish they made one that was nnarrower. Otherwise, I see many years of use ahead first this warm bamboo item.
but they are ugly as sin and I have never liked them, they were simply functional

I didn't think a shoe rack could add so much to our home aesthetics. For years, we have used the basic cheapo coated wire racks that you can buy for under $20 everywhere, but they are ugly as sin and I have never liked them, they were simply functional. I decided one day that I was tired of these ugly racks (being Asian, I live by the motto that shoes are removed at the entryway) and we had a collection of these hideous racks lined up by the door. When I found this on Amazon, I though it seems too good to be true but the reviews were decent and the pics looked good so I went for it. Wow am I impressed. Together with a little de-cluttering of old, raggedly and unwanted shoes, we now have a very visually pleasing shoe rack that does what it needs to do without making me ashamed. Now I do have a separate shoe/handbag and coat closet that houses most of my shoes, but this rack holds my athletic and casual footwear and still has room for the Man to put his entire collection of shoes (he's a simple guy he only has 10 shoes including sandals). Did I mention that the rack is very nice looking? I would definitely buy another if I needed it.
Good Looking and Sturdy

Arrived well packaged. All parts accounted for. A few minor blemishes on two of the shelves but as they are reversible this was not an issue. Assembled with one person. Did not have a hex insert bit for drill/driver so used a combination hex key set instead of the supplied hex key which allowed for a quicker tightening. Had two screws that were not aligned with their hole by 1/8". Was able to align using moderate force without assistance. The build quality is pleasantly surprising given the price. Look is quite satisfactory and functionality good. Far sturdier than the weight of shoes that will ever be on the shelves. If we need another will get this one again.
How much you know about assembly will determine your stars for this product

I assembled this in about 25 minutes taking my time to see if I had any of the cracking, holes out of alignment and all the other problems mentioned in other reviews. I didn’t.You need to understand that bamboo is a formerly living, fibrous material and not metal. You start every screw by hand (wood or metal) to make sure it is in the hole and not out of alignment. Next, you do not completely tighten the first screw or any of the screws until the entire shelf is put together standing up wobbly. In this way, even if slightly out of alignment, every screw will pull up tight to the degree it can and not be loose or unstable. Lastly, tighten wood screws only until they snug up the two pieces.Over-tightening any joint makes it weaker, not stronger. The shelves are holding up shoes and small items. It’s not designed to hold barbells or auto engines. Don’t tighten the screws too hard.. Hard metal screws will always split soft wood. It’s a rock/scissors/paper (roshambo) problem. Metal scissors always wins over soft, fibrous paper (bamboo).BTW, the screws are hex, not phillips or flat. A set of hex bits and variable speed drill set to low rpms is the perfect tool for the job.
In the end it turned out sort of OK, I guess.
