Great deal for $300 sale price!

I shopped extensively and don't think you can get more bang for your buck. Sound is excellent paired with the Boston Acoustics Soundware XS speaker package I purchased. I love the wireless function and easy connection to Pandora Radio. It takes a little time to learn the functions (and I'm still learning) but thats the case with anything electronic these days. I purchased the Square Trade 3 year warranty for $20 since there were some reviewers with HDMI problems, but everything is working fine so far.

Not a bad value for a $299 receiver
By MJ on Reviewed in the United States on February 3, 2015
Not a bad value for a $299 receiver. I have owned it for about 7 months now and have done a firmware update as well. The receiver is replacing an older Yamaha which sounded awesome but lacked WiFi and bluetooth. The sound is not as powerful as my old Yamaha or even an older Onkyo that I am using in another room but it makes sense that in order to squeeze in all these HDMI connections and features Onkyo had to cut some corners and unfortunately the audio front end is where the quality was sacrificed. Like everyone else I have had my share of HDMI issues. No matter how I configure the HDMI pass through feature, last source used or a particular input like my U-Verse, it works when it wants to. Most of the time I get no audio from my TV when watching U-Verse through HDMI pass through. Sometimes it starts working but more often not. I got so tired of it that I ended up connecting my TV directly through optical fiber. One thing to note is that this unit will get really hot. I ended up moving it out from the bottom shelf of my TV cabinet and putting it right out on top. Although it looks messy (with wires and all) sitting out in the open but I cannot afford the unit to burn. I have also connected an old PC fan to it via USB to keep it running cool. Do not put it over or under any component. Have at least 8" of room above it and 4 inches on the side to allow for air to cool the unit. If you can connect a fan like I did, then please do it before it's too late. Now the good ... Bluetooth works like a charm, WiFi is easy to configure and most of the features work without using much help. One thing that I wished that it did have was pre outs for audio, but you cannot have everything for under $300. Would I buy it again? probably not but for a budget unit it is not all that bad.
