Such a great camera

Confession...I've been a Canon SLR user since the 1990's. I'm an intermediate level user. ...to be honest, I'm often too busy to use this as more than a point and shoot. I saw plenty of review from camera gear heads that loved this model, so I went for it. I am upgrading from a Canon SLR Tsi. I loved that camera and was only getting a new one to pass mine along to a family member who needed a SLR and offered to buy mine (ie, was not looking to improve at the time). I had a lot of issues with my old camera learning to get the 'right' thing in focus with auto-focus. Often I had to use manual focus to get the shots I was looking for. I hated uploading the photos only to find the wrong thing was in focus. I have not had this problem with this camera. It is obvious when taking the picture where the autofocus is centered and it usually is looking at what I am looking at. This camera is FANTASTIC! Totally worth the price. The picture quality is BEAUTIFUL. The flash creates such soft and beautiful images ( as compared to my previous model). I've not even had to deal with a more professional flash yet. The lens is heavy, but I used to interchange lenses (18-55 and 75-300). I often had the wrong lens with me and was too busy to change to the one I really wanted. Typically I carried the 75-300 most of the time anyway. That lens used to unwind and hang down. I have not had this problem with this lens. There is a lock feature to prevent it, but the lens seems to be better designed to prevent this so far. This lens is pretty much all inclusive for every day photography. I did get a hood to protect the lens (Canon EW-73B Lens Hood For 17-85mm), and I am glad. I carry this camera everywhere and the hood (on in reverse) is cheep and keeps me from knocking the lens....and as someone said in the hood review...makes you look like you know what you are doing. I got the Transcend 64GB Class 10 SDXC Flash Memory Card. It seems to work well and can hold tons of imaging. I didn't want to keep downloading pics to keep my card available for more images. In fact, I plan to use it a backup storage and get a new card when it is full. The video quality is fine for regular applications. I have a canon videocamera as well, so I don't spend a lot of time with this video feature. But the little clips I have taken of my infant are better than what I get on my phone so I'm happy. Love love love this camera. Buy it!

Wost video shooting experience of all !

What a shame Canon ! Video shooting out of focus and blurry most of time ! With STM lens, slow focus is in an out during recording several time. I have a 50 sec video, and my kid was out of focus for 20 sec in a sunny day. Starting with out of focus in recording, and it stays in out of focus for more than few sec as it has in sleep. All right, you can press the shutter to refocus again, but slowly focus in and out last over 5 sec in recording would make you quit ! I learned how to shoot a nice video with manual focus like pro ! Bought this camera for Seattle Vancouver trip, and it is wasted. You are losing your good name and creditbility. Own 3 Canon but 1st in SLR. Better come out firmware to fix this problem. Get a Lumix G5 or G6 for video quality is super.
