Great sounding unit

Let's face it, it's not going to compete with 5, 7, 9, or 10 channel surround sound systems, but it can hold it's own when used up to medium volume levels. Very easy hook-up, easy to enable your TV remote to use for volume control. Many people have problems disabling the TV speakers to use just the sound bar but I don't think that is necessary to do, be sure to read the OM to set the TV's volume lower than the sound bar so that you don't blow the TV's speakers out. It'll depend how loud you use this thing as to the db level difference you'll need to set. It's all very easy to do, just follow the OM suggestions. Would highly recommend this product to anyone who doesn't want to spend the big $$ or running wires to all the associated speakers that are used in surround systems. I found this surround bar on the internet for about half its retail price, but even & $800., it's a very good product.

Very, very poor product

I ordered the Polk 9000IHT for $799 about 2 weeks ago. I got it and one of the 2 digital inputs was broken inside. Called amazon and they sent me a second. That one arrived had another problem, the remote and touch sensitive controls on the unit were locked up and would not do anything. I was told to plug in the head phone jack and connect the red and white ends to my dvr or tv to "unlock" or "ground" the issue I was having. The customer service rep told me he had heard of this issue before and that's how he knew this could help. I sent that one back because I didn't like the "work around" Polk customer service gave me. Get the THIRD Polk 9000IHT. Hook it up within 10 minutes of UPS delivering it.........SAME FREAKING ISSUE AS THE LAST ONE! Called Amazon back up and said I'm done. Please send me the Klipsch SB3!This polk sounded like you would think a bar would sound when it comes to music. Not bad on movies but music sounded muddled and flat. If you are considering the Polk 9000 here is another negative I ran into. They provide you with a digital optical cable that's thin as a piece of dental floss. It plugs into the bottom of the unit similar to the Klipsch. However, it is a VERY shallow indentation where the optical input is located. If you use an aftermarket cable which I think most people would want to since the one provided looks like black dental floss, it will stick out making it impossible for the sound bar to sit on its legs. I had several pieces of cardboard cut into squares to help lift the sound bars legs up 1 inch to accommodate the head of the after market toslink cable. Made me feel like I got this on clearance at some rag tag flea market or craigslist. Not a newly designed product that recently was put on the market for $800. Pretty poor design if you are spending $800. Add to that the fact I had to use the headphone input in addition to the toslink to "unlock" or "ground" the unit so the remote would control it. Remember, this happened on TWO different units and the CR rep had heard about it before my problems.I called customer service at Polk and the lady said she would pass on my THREE bad experiences (all within 10 days) to the customer service manager. Asked for my phone # and email to give him but I haven't heard anything. You'd think at the very least a form letter apologizing or even more personal, a phone call or even an email. Oh well, in the end that junk 9000 bar lead me to getting the Klipsch SB3 so I guess it happened for a reason
