Great for my setup

This system pumps out great sound, but the bass could be deeper. Other than that I think this is a great buy for the price especially.

I tried to like this system

I tried to like this system, but I just can't. First one that arrived had a bad circuit board, Bluetooth did not work at all and all the speakers on all of the left channels were very quiet. I contacted customer service and they promptly sent me another, (they didn't even want the first one back). The second one arrived and the screen did not work. I was able to fix it by taking it apart and reconnecting the chip that controls the screen, so I finally had a working system, but the audio quality is poor at best, circuitry looks like it was designed fro cheap in the 90's and sounds like it too.Cons: The sub woofer is week at best, it barely provides mid-range and completely fails (as in doesn't even try, it seems to get filtered out at around 100Hz) in the very low frequency range.Bluetooth is only 2.0 so the audio quality is even lower if you connect that way. After 6 months only listening to this at 1/2 volume or less (usually far less but never more than since the it sounds terrible) several speakers have started to make rattling noises.Remote is pointlessly complicated.Speakers are difficult to mount at best, and the stands are awkward and cannot be adjusted.Every one I received arrived broken/poorly manufactured.Speakers make static sound when system on but no audio is playing, even at lowest volume. This system is very large, both the receiver/sub-woofer and the speakers. The individual speakers are each nearly a foot tall and half a foot wide/thick.Pros:Banana plugs for speaker connections.Individual analog inputs for each channel.

Cheap, and quite the handful.

I'm a college student and I bought this because I can't afford the big expensive surround sound systems but I love music and entertaining friends. I have owned this for maybe 5 months and it has become intolerable. I'm not usually picky, but there are some serious flaws with setup. I had it plugged into my computer.Pros: It was cheep, which is nice. For a while it worked fairly well, just needed some extra cables to plug it into my computer. The sound was crisp and accurate, and I liked it very much. Movies, games, music, etc. were all excellent on this system. I never used the other features but they seemed pretty cool. Comes with a remote.Cons: First and foremost, the system is very hard to configure. The remote has no modifications for the front side speakers, but can change the decibels on everything else. Also, the amplifications change every time the system volume changed, so for a while I just put it at some high setting and would change my computer volume once I painstakingly configured everything. The Radio antenna was damaged upon receiving it; I wasn't going to use it anyway so I don't mind, but still, it was broken. After about 5 or 6 months of use the controller was toast. Satellite speakers were no longer obeying their controls for how much sound they need to give off; The sides and front were at max (both through my computer audio manager and if I could, through the hub) and they whispered, where as the rear speakers were blasting slightly muted. I also noticed that if I tried to continue to mute the rear, it degraded all the other speakers as well. So basically, after 5-6 months of use, its garbage now.
Not the best, but for that price & 7.1, I can't complain.

Well, I was honest to myself from the beginning: I wasn't going to purchase anything fancy (simply because I don't have the money). I was going purchase the cheapest 7.1 set I can get from a relatively known brand. So, here we go...When I purchased this HT system back in January 2013, there were no reviews at all in Amazon. Besides Pyle webpage, info/reviews around the web were very scarce. But I liked the looks (and the price) and after checking all the specs over and over, I ordered it.After a week, I got a BIG box (oops!?). The first thing I noticed was how large the satellite speakers were. I was expecting something smaller. I went back to Amazon.com to confirm the dimensions and yea, the size is correct. They ARE big (duh!). Then I pulled out the main unit. It is also bigger than thought, but it includes the subwoofer, doesn't look cheap and the minimalist face looks really nice showing only the VFD display and a volume knob.It came with all the cables, antenna, remote, etc. nicely packaged. Nevertheless, 3 of the satellite speakers had subtle scuff marks on the glossy finish (UPS bumpy ride?). I had to put those on the back of the room. The speaker wire was enough in length (small room) but too thin for my needs (22 AWG?). I just went ahead and purchased real-copper 16 AWG wire. So, I installed the thing. My setup includes a 50" LCD TV and a HTPC running Windows 8 (see customer images). I really like how the whole system looks now.The MOBO on the PC has 7.1 HD audio included so the Pyle receiver is directly connected to the computer. There's no digital input on the Pyle so I used stereo 3.5mm to stereo RCA Y cable connectors (analog). Then I downloaded a 7.1 sound test WAV from Microsoft to check each channel. Each speaker responded correctly (whew!). Initial overall sound from the PC was disappointing though. Then I tested the Bluetooth music playback from my Galaxy Note and it sounded beautifully. Good sound balance with nice bass with very little tweaking on the Poweramp app. I even was able to jump to the next song on my phone using the Pyle remote. Cool.So I knew this Pyle was able to do much better from the PC. I went back to Windows, Control Panel, Realtek HD Audio Manager, Room Correction and entered values for distance and decibels. Way better. Surround sound effects in Avatar (BluRay, 5.1) were really good. But bass was still lacking. I pumped up the SW volume on the Pyle remote and I got some good bass, but not great (I eventually added a second subwoofer to fill the void).I noticed the speakers make a tiny hissing noise even after the unit is turned off. Not a problem for me because I'm using some remote controlled AC outlets to entirely disconnect my system from the grid. Now, after 3 months, many movies, music and fine-tunning, I can say I'm satisfied with this Pyle. For this -low- price you get real 7.1 sound (with some bass). But you will need to play with the settings on the unit and your source (in my case, Windows) to get the real deal.Music over Bluetooth sounds great out of the box (with great bass). Haven't tested aux or mp3 inputs.Would I recommend it to a friend?... If in a tight budget, yea.
Bigger Than I Expected, But Excellent

I recently ordered this product as a replacement for my old 5.1 computer speakers since they started to fail. I was expecting the satellite speakers to be about 6" tall, but they turned out to be 12" tall and 4" wide, which isn't a problem, but they are much larger than the pictures made them look (subwoofer is 16.5" wide, 15" long, 12" tall). They sound wonderful and I have had no problem with them thus far, which has been close to a month now.One thing to keep in mind is that this speaker system is listed as a "Home Theater System," so it is not specifically for a TV or computer (although with the size, probably leaning more towards TV). Therefore, the manufacturer only includes the speaker wire to connect from your subwoofer to all the 7 speakers; not the hookup to the back of your TV/computer/etc (because they would be different hookups). Be sure to purchase the applicable cords to connect this system to your devices. For a computer, make sure you have a 7.1 compatable soundcard and you'll need to purchase [x4] Stereo Male to RCA Y-Cables (if you don't own them already). For the price, you can not go wrong with this; especially since most 7.1 speakers aren't as appealing and usually exceed $350. It is true 7.1 (unlike some of the other products I found while searching for new speakers), it has remote control settings to adjust the bass/treble/individual speaker volume, and the volume cranks! I can barely go to 50% max volume without it being too loud. One slight downfall is that a couple of the speakers arrived very lightly scuffed (not scratched, just scuffed), so I just threw those two in the rears to keep them more hidden, even though you would have to look closely to even tell.Overall, I would highly recommend these speakers for anyone searching for an appealing surround sound system with a budget. So far, (aside from the large size which isn't actually an issue) I have no real problems! I will greatly enjoy this speaker system for many years to come!

First Thing It is really big.2.No instruction manuals3. If you have never setup a surround sound before it may be hard it took me about 2 hours after searching I figured out how to connect the wires to the sub4.After finishing the setup and turning on the thing it felt weak and not as good as my other 4 year old surround sound after so tinkering with the remote controller I found out it was set to 2.1 setting and faded to the left5 I found a glitch in the first 30 mins if you hit the R it will mess up and only after mutting it will it come back but only sometimesOverall I dont like it I will probably send it back for a refund do to its weak sound and bass after I have turned the bass all the way up anyways I would not recommend this to anyone who is looking for a small surround sound or looking for good surround soundI only paid about $198 for it the price is really good but noy worth it maybe if it qas about $120
Cons are negligible, Pros are great!

Pros-* Amazing sound quality. I was watching a show in which the main characters were walking down a busy street. I could hear chatter from the other people on the street! The clarity of this system is awesome.* Very loud. The volume goes up to 35 and at 25 my neighbors could hear my music. That is a definite pro in my book.* The Blutooth option is nice for streaming from your phone or tablet.* Looks very nice.Cons-* No digital hook-up. You will have to connect to this set using RCA cables and finding a set that has 7.1 ports is a very difficult task.* The stupid light blinks all the time... This is more of a personal irritant, but there is a blue LED that blinks constantly. I put my wife's black nail polish over it which solved the problem for me, just be warned.Summary-Overall I love this system (hence the 5 stars) I wish it had a TOSLINK input, but I can live without it for now. It sounds great and clear and was a very easy set up. Would definitely recommend to others.
Does NOT Work in 2.1, 5.1, or 7.1 Surround Sound!

I purchased this in spite of all the bad reviews because there were some good ones and figured that it was just a setup problem. Well, it's not a setup problem! It works with AUX, MP3, and DVD inputs but NOT WITH 2.1, 5.1, or 7.1 inputs! Virtually useless!!! And in DVD mode the sound output from the satellite speakers is so poor/low/anemic that you can't hear them over the main bass speaker. It's not like surround sound at all! What a waste! And I found out that this is NOT RETURNABLE!!! Ok, this is a VERY BAD SELLER and these units are probably defective to start with!!! Buy the defective units for nothing then sell them at retail price as new!!! Make a lot of profit, non-existent customer support, and force the poor customers to go to Pyle for warranty support that very well may not happen. What an abusive business model! That's what I think is happening here from my experience and reading all the other reviews. Why else for it not to be returnable? So this is essentially a $200.00 hunk of junk that does not work and is not returnable. I suggest that you buy a properly working system from a reputable seller.I will update this review after I hear back from Pyle concerning warranty support.Good luck!

I personally think this is one of the best deals around. Most of the other home theater systems I was looking at were priced around $220-250 for a 250Watt 5.1 channel system. So immediately I was drawn to this product for the price. Also, it has a significant number of positive reviews. So for my review:shipping was fast and reasonable (I shelled out for the 2 day shipping, which was around $55.)The speakers are stylish and look nice in my place.Set up was simple. I've never installed or set up a stereo system before so I had some trepidation, but it really is as simple as can be.The sound is good. And I do say good. For $180 its great, but compared to some more expensive higher end systems, you will find this one to be sub-par. Don't expect movie theater quality sound. But again, for the price you get outstanding quality. I would like it to be a bit louder, but to be honest I haven't yet hooked up the rear speakers, so I really shouldn't say it isn't loud enough when I haven't heard the whole thing in action. Also, a note to any potential buyers: this system does come with stereo wires, but for the set up that I had in mind there wasn't enough. It comes with 1x 4 foot length, 2x 8 foot lengths, and 4x 16 foot lengths (what I assume to be 16 feet, I didn't actually measure just eyeballed). I'm going to buy more cable sometime this upcoming week, but that is on my end and in no way a negative review of this product. I would have liked to have known how much cable it came with before purchasing, as I would have simply bought more before hand.Overall, I am very happy with this purchase and I recommend this product to anyone who wants a good, but not great, stereo system for an incredible price.

I chose a 3-star for the following reasons. It did come with all the wires, ect...but nothing to hook it up to the TV/BlueRay with. So at first it was just an expensive radio. The AM/FM antenna, cord is short, unless it opens up and there's more wire? But go buy a different one.Wire? Yes, it comes with wire. I have a small place, but needed more wire. The speakers were a nice size. But the sound wasn't powerful as it looked. Don't get me wrong, it sounded better after I adjusted the power going through it. Sub is nice. Doesn't hit/pound like a car system lol. But you can still hear it.After getting it set up, it did sound WONDERFUL! It carried through the whole place. This is more of a clear sounding system. Doesn't get all distorted and nothing really overpowers anything. The Bluetooth works great! The set up time? It took me about under an hour to set it up, WITHOUT looking at the directions.(I am a true man) I don't know who said it takes 3-4 hours? I never set up a home theater system before, but if you have common sense, shouldn't be a problem. Does look overwhelming at first. But in the end, just remember which wire you used for the (-) & (+).I would recommend this to anyone on a low budget and a small place. It's not like a Bose home theater system, but it does the trick. I got it for movies and my PS3. The only thing is, if you have cats that are frisky, invest in a wireless system, or set it up so they don't get so nosey. (good luck!)Overall? Wasn't too impressed at first. But I hooked it up and absolutely loved it!
