Best dye for blues I've found
By sweettems on Reviewed in the United States on March 6, 2025
I've tried a few different brands of similar blue dyes, and this is by far the best. The others washed out much faster, and quickly turned green (even when I went purple to try to avoid that). I've kept my hair in varying degrees of blue for a couple years. I've used Baby Blue, Sapphire, and Indigo, and they've all been great. They smell good, don't appear to damage my very fine hair, and as mentioned, last a good while. Note they don't totally wash out, just fade over time.To avoid damage, I don't bleach - I use these directly on my dirty blond hair. They end up darker, of course, but even the Baby Blue covers it just fine without lightening first. As my fine hair gets oily quickly, I wash my hair at least every other day, and a lot of blue will come out in the shower for a week or two, but my hair will still look good for at least a month / month and a half at this rate. Over time I haven't been as persnickety about the dye in my shower either, but it's been coming out ok without a lot of scrubbing. It's also easy to get off white tile, and some sinks (one stains and one doesn't, not sure the difference). Towels, on the other hand, will stay blue, so I only use particular ones on my hair.My only issue is that my roots don't dye well - the color washes out pretty quickly near my scalp. But I'm guessing that's my hair, not anything to do with the dye. I'll use heat for 15 minutes, and leave the dye on my hair for a couple hours covered in a plastic cap and towel to keep it warmer. I'll check every so often to be sure it's not drying, and spritz with water in any areas if so.

It's purple, not blue
By Melinda E. O'Connor on Reviewed in the United States on January 11, 2025
I've been looking for a good lighter blue semi-permanent color for awhile. I use it in between colorings with the permanent color. From the photos, this color most closely matched my permanent color. I bleach my hair. A couple of days later, I color it. About 1-2 weeks later, I use the semi-permanent color. I keep my hair very short and with a high fade, so I have new hair all the time and no damage. I do the same with the other pastel colors I use and the matching pastel pink and lavender semi-permanent colors were exactly as shown. Now to the blues! I've looked for a closely matching color for quite some time. They seem to have a lot of dark, or bright blues. The pastel blue, or silver blue, were difficult to find. When I did, I read the reviews and several of them said the color was purple and not blue. I kept looking! This brand seemed different. The color matched very closely and the initial reviews seemed promising. The price was decent too. I get the color. I open it. It looks like a darker purple in the bottle. I try it anyway, since I know from experience some colors look completely different when they "cure" on the hair. After I rinsed and dried my hair, it was definitely lavender and not the blue shown. I ordered the next blue in the color choices. Wanted to make an effort before I complained, or left a negative review. The other blue...same thing. An even darker purple in the bottle. I contacted Amazon to see what I should do. They told me to contact the company directly. I will always give the company a chance, before I review. One positive, they responded very quickly. The response however, was FAR from satisfactory. What they said basically was that certain colors look different on different shades of hair and that was most likely the problem. That, or customer error. WHAT?!! I have been coloring my own hair since I was 13. I am now 66. I had gone to cosmetology school. I know not to put a pastel color on dark hair! Lavender is a pastel color as well, so how does their argument even make sense? I wrote again in response, repeating that my hair was bleached and a very light and now faded blue color. No response at all that time. Seemed they had no response for a knowledgeable(I knew b. s. when I saw it) and now irritated/insulted customer. Since it would cost me more to return the products, I kept them. They can be used as backup for my pastel lavender color, even though I already have a real lavender semi-permanent color, that looks exactly as advertised. I looked further into some of the reviews for this brand too. Specifically for the light blue colors. Sure enough, saw the same complaint. The product itself is not bad, so it's unfortunate I have to leave such negative review. Between the customer service response, them not owning up to an obvious problem and 2 blue colors not being as advertised, I'm going hard. This seems only to be the case with the lighter blues, so as far as product, this review is for those only. Why can't any company seem to get a handle on this problem? From other reviews I've read, the blue colors were fine in the past. What changed with the blues? I hope someone figures it out. Soon! Until then...
