We have been looking for headrest DVD players for a while now and these are a really good deal. Installed both in about an hour in a 2010 hyundai tucson. These look much better than the factory headrest. We are ordering a set for another vehicle we own.

Fair for Price

I bought a of PLD76BK because the price was cheap. I used the Philips Dual Screens that fastened around the head rest but my kid kept on destroying the adapter that was connected to cigarette lighter. I bought the used dvd headrest set from the amazon warehouse. My only complaint on how I recieved the product was that one of the S-cables had bent pins. I was able to bend them back, but if the pins break then they are useless. Anyway, I installed these players in a Mazda5. The installation was easy because the Mazda5 seats had zippers that allowed easy access to the back of the seats. Using an "add a fuse" circuit I was able to connect to existing fuse box to get powers. The DVD player takes about 1.5 AMPS so I piggy backed on the power mirror fuse 7.5 amps. It's a good idea not to use a busy fuse such as air conditioner or wiper to draw power. With the grounding I got a little creative. I used a ground clip to ground the black wire to the frame of the Mazda. In the fuse box area; there I had access to bare sheet metal that allowed me to ground the black wire without have to take out covers or glove box The problem with this player is that the firm ware is out dated. This caused the player to play some DVDs and not others. It is a little on the cheap side with the Logo print rubbing off easily. The games are not very good? The controller have to be extremely close to the DVD player. For the price I think this product is fair

Installed easily into my vehicle. All you need is basic wiring understanding. The only annoyance is you have to select wireless output every time the dvd players come on. Dvd can be separate or watch the same on both players.
cheaply made and just plain doesn't work

I bought the pair in Feburary 2012 and I've just now been able to have them professionally installed, thus I'm not able to return the product at this point. If I could, I most certainly would. I guess I mistakenly took the now obviously fake reviews as being on the up and up when I purchased these Pyles of.... but I also seem to recall all the other headsets in this price range seemed to have their own unique complaints. Anyway, I digress, here's my story: HAd the units professionally installed. That went great, thanks Best Buy! Turn one of the units on. they powered up to the demo game DVD (note: game DVD contains no games). Good enough for me, I left the store. Got home and tried to play an actual store bought, legitimate, copyrighted NTSC region 1 DVD. Nope. It gave me a helpful message, though: STOP REC. I tried pressing PLAY and got the message "INVALID KEY" ... OK, let's get into SETUP. Nope, "INVALID KEY" ... wow. After a minute or so it had mercy on me, either that or one of the keys I pressed actually did something, because I got into the SETUP menu and found video settings. Alright, I'm feeling really bright now! A simple default settings change should do it! I changed the setting from PAL to NTSC. Nope, that didn't do it. But there's still hope, one more option: AUTO. Maybe the unit just needs to discover on it's own what kind of disc it's playing? Nah, same result. OK, I can believe this DVD just might be damaged, even thought I pulled it out of the player that's played it fine thousands of times inside my house. After the 20th DVD failed to play, I started thinking something may be amiss. After a quick review of the reviews on this product page, my heart sank when I read of others having the exact same issue. I also had the same experience with paint coming off the buttons and the zipper on the headrest already coming apart, just wanted to chime in on that. If the things would play a DVD I'd consider that minor and I probably wouldn't care less. A slight addendum: after reading every review and scouring the web, I saw where an "S. Weiss" posted the following under Chunky's review: "Region Change Instructions: Power On the Screen using the Power Button, Then press the Open / Eject Button That allows the screen to open and load a disc, With the door in the open position, use the wireless remote control and Press "5", "1", "6", & "8", A region setup screen will appear, from there select the region number that matches your territory For examplle USA/Canada is Region 1, Repower the unit then attempt to play a DVD. If it initiates play your unit will retain that region code setting into its main memory." I did this, and a DVD actually played! So I went back and tried all 20. After performing this magic change, 2 out of 20 DVD's now play!!!! All my DVD's are region 1 NTSC, except for one cheap cartoon compilation, which says it's NTSC Region-ALL. It doesn't play either. Bottom line, the PYLE PLD76BK Adjustable Headrest with Built-In 7-Inch TFT/LCD Monitor, DVD Player IR/FM Transmitter, and Cover (Pair) WILL NOT play the vast majority of your NTSC Region 1 DVD's. That's the bottom line and I dare them to try and refute that statement. Amazon should immediately make a point, force Pyle to list what these devices actually will play and/or quit selling these devices under fraudulent claims. Since I had the devices professionally installed, I guess I will now take Best Buy up on their offer to put my factory headrests back in, and hope Pyle will do the right thing and take these things back. I guess I'll then search for a product with less fake reviews. And I know, this is my first review on Amazon, but if I'm willing to ramble on this long after 100's of successful purchases, I think you'll know I'm not a fake review posting Pyle employee.

Pros: the dvd players work great, the screens are clear and bright, the tilt comes in really handy. Cons: the game controllers have to be pointed directly at the IR sensor, the headphones don't work off IR at all, installation is a joke in order to install these the way they are sent you will not only have to remove your seats but also take them apart so you can get your hands inside to connect the wires and then just pray that they don't come apart, the zippers didn't work when they first showed up so i had to take the head rests and have new zippers put on, the games included are horrible, and they take for ever to boot up. Overall: instead of taking apart my seat i too these apart and built longer wires so that the connection was under the seat and easier to get to, when at a show i simply leave out the "video games and IR headphone" when talking about them because i would undoubtedly get points deducted for either faulty equipment or just horrible games. i would not waste my money on these again

We bought these headrests to install in our 2007 Chevy Avalanche, they look really nice - nearly factory. We did have trouble in the beginning getting them to play most DVDs. Unfortunately, we followed some people's advice and tried to update the firmware with the patch from Pyle's website - this rendered them useless. After returning the first set and talking with Pyle over the phone about our issue, we merely changed the region code from the test region to region 1 in the set up and the 2nd set worked just fine. Very easy to install, works well with both SD cards and DVDs.

I purchased this unit because of its good price and decent feedback. Got it quick and package was in good shape. Opened the box and attempted to find installation instructions, which did not exist. In the instruction manual it gives a poor illustration of how you should connect the red wire to the 12 volt power source. Installation was more difficult than others mentioned if you want to conceal all wires and for it to look professional. I am a DIY person, but if you are not expect to pay $150 for installation. Got them installed and they looked decent enough. I have black leather interior and they look almost factory. Popped in a dvd of Dora the esplorer and it worked great. Picture was good and the speakers on the screen worked enough for the back seat passengers to hear but not loud enough to annoy the front seat. Loaded everybody in and my kid asked to watch Finding Nemo so loaded that in and........nothing. So I put in toy story......nothing. I finally put in Tom and Jerry and it worked fine. I have come to the conclusion that region 1 coded dvd's would not work in the player. The dvd player would not play any of my movie dvd's but would play the tv episode dvd's. I called Pyle and they said it should work and I got a defective unit. I sent it back to amazon and they sent out another. The second unit had the exact same problem. I called pyle again and they said they did not know why it was not working. Their tech support is not so good as you might have guessed. I finally ended up ordering this same model without the dvd player and I am going to have to use a stand alone dvd player. I am disappointed they did not play dvd's the way they should. The headphones were very cheap and did not work very well. I never had an opportunity to try the video games, but the controller was very cheap in quality. Amazon was great in handling the situation. I cannot imagine if I would have ordered these from another online retailer.

I exchanged the 1st set I ordered because one of the zippers was broken upon arrival and the covers were stuck to the white paint on the unit. Pros: They look fine, I like the concept of the cover with a zipper closure. Cons: Inconsistent Play: Frequently fails to play Original DVDs. Some days it does, some days it doesn't. I only load Original purchased DVDs into these Pyle units (no copies, no home recorded DVDs). Quality: The paint on the face of the DVD player sticks to the inside of the cover, rubs off on the inside of the cover. Soon there will be no wording at all on the DVD player to know what the buttons are for. The zippers are weak. The Head Rests are not "Sturdy" and do not stay in place. They flop/tilt with very little force. With a bumpy road or shifting in the front seat, they tilt and the viewing angle needs to be adjusted frequently. Sound: Quality is terrible and even at the max volume it is very low. The sound on a DVD can not be heard by the passengers in the back seat. User Manual: Instructions are not useful. They read like they were written in a foreign language, then translated to English with a software program. Spelling mistakes, Syntax errors, poor Punctuation. Very difficult to follow the Install. The info on Features/Functions for the DVD unit are Incomplete. DVD Buttons/Functions: No "Menu" button on the DVD Player. There are basic functions that Need to be included on the DVD player such as "Menu" (so you do Not need a Remote Control to play a movie). Basically on most DVDs you load in this unit, you need to watch all of the previews (unless you can find the Remote). Remote Control: The remote has to be about 2" from the DVD player to function. When the kids are buckled-in they can not use the remote. I regret keeping these Pyle DVD Players. At the time I bought them, the reviews seemed decent, but note: Every single Positive Review is Not an "Amazon Verified Purchase". Every single "Amazon Verified Purchase" gave these Pyle units a Negative Review. Yeah, the people from Pyle are hanging around, commenting on Negative reviews and probably posting positive reviews.
