Exactly what I was looking for in a projection clock
By SunnyBrook on Reviewed in the United States on October 24, 2014
This was exactly what I was hoping it would be. I purchased a LaCross projector alarm clock last year that I should have returned, What I didn't like about that one, this one is the opposite. For one thing, the face stays lit up and I can easily see the time on the clock when the room is too light to see the projected time on the wall. Some complain that the face is too bright. Doesn't bother me at all, but the hint about applying car window tint seemed a good fix for those who are bothered by it. And there is the option of turning off the display, but that would require that the clock be close enough for you to wave your hand over to see the time. Another complaint is the quality of the radio. This tiny device is way too small to have quality speakers. If a quality radio is desired, I'd say look elsewhere and pay more. I didn't want a radio or even an alarm, nor do I care about waving my hand over the clock to snooze, but those are features to check out in other reviews. I just wanted a good projection clock, and THAT is what I got. I've had an Emerson projection clock for about 10 years which is not made anymore and still works perfectly. I wanted a second one for a different room. That LaCross I mentioned buying a year ago was a joke. It might as well have been a watch because you can't see the time on the clock unless you push a button which gives you a few seconds to see it. Being as I keep it 6 feet away from my bed, it's only value was in the projected time. But the projection flipped between temperature and time, giving 6 seconds to temperature and about 2 to time, so we'd have to wait it out to see the time. AND, a year later, so many of the LED lines have gone out that you can't read the projected numbers anymore. I don't know yet if the Magnasonic will last. That will be another review down the road. But what I love about it is that the projection is big and easy to read and doesn't flip to temperature. I project the time about 13 feet across the room, and the numbers are about a foot tall at this distance and can be focused perfectly. Easy to see in the middle of the night through bleary eyes. It was extremely easy to set up. The only thing I had to look at the instructions for was to make sure daylight time was toggled on, and to learn which number time zone = Pacific time. It is zone 6, Mountain time is zone 5, etc. There was no wait for it to set itself to the correct time, and as I understand it, with daylight time toggled on, it will automatically reset to standard time when daylight time is over. It has a small foot print and looks nice on my desk. The wires some people have mentioned are easily hidden where I keep it. I felt that $29 was a fair price, about $5 more than the LaCross and about half the cost of the Emerson.

Bought 2, both displays died
By tom451 on Reviewed in the United States on March 15, 2014
Maybe this was a bad lot of alarm clocks. The first display grew dim and went dark in the first month. The second display has become too dim to be useful after 11 months 20 days. They have rigorous return instructions making you diligently use your time and resources in order to have a successful return. For example, you must ensure at least 1" of padding around the dysfunctional alarm clock. If not packed to their satisfaction, their policy gives the right to reject, a judgement after the fact. And a $25 fee is assessed if you make a mistake and don't include something or they don't agree the screen is dark. The waving of hand feature to snooze and seeing settings for alarms 1 & 2, really grows on you. I decided to use the beeping rather than the radio to wake up, as the radio is second class in sound, reception, and setting. FM is much better than AM. The speaker is small and the sound is muffled. It keeps time with button cells during an outage, and when it is unplugged. Other clocks need bigger batteries that don't seem to last. This feature seems to work well. The projection is limited by how you place the clock on the nightstand, since it can't rotate the image on the ceiling. I put a small dab of Goop on alarm button 1 so I can identify it among all the buttons in the morning. The temperature sensor is at the end of a wire. That wire awkwardly lays across the nightstand. As does the FM antenna wire. The buttons on top are all the same size with even spacing. The display is not bright enough, anyway, even when new. Hard to know why the display and some of the other functions wouldn't have more thought behind them. Nice to have 2 alarms that are both settable for week and weekend. They packed a lot of functions in this product. Reduced to 3 stars because, after all, both clocks I bought had to be returned.
