10,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner

This unit worked great for the first 2 summers. This year it has developed the awful leaking problem that others have mentioned. I just installed new carpeting in my whole house and if this continues the new carpeting will be soon be ruined! There is very little help available from the manufacturers website and the manual doesn't give any clue how to get to the drain tube to check for problems. The drain tube port is in a ridiculous spot in the back right below the vent tubing and less than an inch above the floor. The entire bottom of the unit has a cover on it so I can't see where the tube itself is installed without figuring out how to remove the whole bottom. I have tried a few fixes I found on the internet and none are really working all that well yet. The best option so far seems to be placing the whole unit on a small table to get it high enough to drain and rigging a tube to the drain hole to allow it gravity drain into a pan. It still drains some water anyway so I also put a boot tray under it to collect the extra water. This is a pain to empty without spilling water everywhere and quickly proved to be a two person job.At this point the best I can say it does efficiently cool my 12 x 14 bedroom but I don't think the potential damage to my several thousand dollar carpeting job is worth it. I would stop using it altogether if it weren't so blasted hot this summer.
