Take it from me, my plastic surgeon, and my team of physical therapists: swimming pools and electrical cords don’t mix. You know those Christmas lights with paper Chinese-looking lantern things around each light? I guess they’re not really Christmas lights per se, but anyway, I strung those up out back for some kicky patio-bar atmosphere. That was my first mistake. Having my idiot friends over for frozen daiquiris by the pool – that was my second mistake. One drink lead to another, and somebody stumbled or tripped or slipped, and the string of lights went flying toward the pool, and of course I was the only person in the water. Next thing I know I’m swimming involuntary, high-voltage laps. Actually, maybe “twitching” would be a better verb there.

I’ve learned my lesson. The doctors say I should be able to move around normally again by the third quarter of 2007, and you can bet I’ll be replacing any cord-bound outdoor lighting with this Vector Indoor/Outdoor Rechargeable Lamp. Each will shine for about 8 hours on one charge, and the include a dimmer control and a quartz haolgen bulb. Yes, you have to plug them into an indoor 110 AC outlet to charge them, so some cord usage is involved. But you should be OK, as long as you don’t charge it in the bathroom.
