The Box Of Tomorrow
Wow! Wasn’t it just a decade or two back that my family got a little box to deliver us content? They called it “a descrambler” I think. Oh, and then before that, there was a slightly larger box to give us content. They called that “the television” if I remember right. And I heard my grandparents talk about that other little box, the one… oh, what was it now? That’s right, “radio”. And I read in a book about this little box called “the telegraph” that helped open up the West, and before that, I think there was a little box called “a pigeon coop” that handled all the mass media updates. It was like Twitter, except over a 56k modem!
So for the Roku Wireless HD Media Player? I’m in! Assuming this refurbished model works as I’m assured it should, I’ll be able to connect to Netflix, Hulu Plus, Pandora, almost anywhere I’ve got a subscription. 5.1 surround sound, HDMI and RCA jacks, S-Video and an Ethernet connection, it’s the first wave of the things my children will one day take for granted and want to leave behind!
I’m already looking forward to the day my child says “Dad, the Roku Wireless HD Media Player’s too slow, and anyway there aren’t any good 9-D movies on it to begin with. That’s for old people!” Because boy, can you imagine what a magical tiny communications box we’ll have by THEN? It’ll be amazing!
