Anyway, so they couldn’t find a nail and the kingdom was lost, is what the deal was. Hence the timeless catchphrase “my kingdom for a horse”. The horseshoe/nail story is one of the most famous things ever written by Shakespeare. Or Mark Twain, or Ben Franklin, or whoever it was.
