It’s embarrassing to admit now, but my wife and I bought our Mountain Trails 2-person tent at the height of the tent bubble. I don’t even want to say how much we paid for it at the time, but these days you can get one for a song! So now we’re underwater on our tent loan, and are probably going to end up losing money on what we thought was a safe investment.
Don’t get me wrong – it’s a great tent, not one of those pre-fab McTents you see springing up in every campground. It’s lightweight, easy to set up, and has durable, reinforced flooring. The footage is about 30 square feet, which is enough room to sleep and, well, sleep. Hopefully we’ll be able to rent it out to a college kid so we can cover our monthly payments. Otherwise I’ll just declare bankruptcy and lose the respect of my wife and family.
