Fireball X-120
Swear to God, if I get one more “Formal Warning” from the HR goons about the noise coming from my cubicle, they won’t have to fire me – I’ll be in jail for doing something drastic that I’ll later regret. I don’t ask for much around here, just to be left alone to reconcile the Accounts Receivable in peace. And for me “in peace” means “to the sound of choice cuts from my extensive collection of vintage ‘80s thrash-metal.” But whenever I turn it up to the point where I can actually hear every nuance of every nuance, somebody snitches that my subwoofer is rattling their cubicle, and it’s all aboard the discipline train. I mean, as if I don’t get enough hassle from these fascists, you know?
What's that you say? Headphones? Dude, those things'll ruin your hearing.Anyway, I said I’d never cave to the anti-rock forces, but these Logitech X-120 2.0 Speaker Systems have me rethinking that position. Yeah, no subwoofer, but they sound just good enough to get me into the Accounts Receivable groove without setting off any of the normals. They’re also small enough to bring along on my occasional “lost weekends” at various local motels. If you insist on destroying your eardrums, they also sport a port for 'phones right on the front of one of the speakers. The specs aren’t spectacular – bass-ported enclosures, 3-inch drivers, and 5 peak watts per channel. The price, on the other hand, is. Two sets (four speakers) for eighteen bucks postpaid? Hellz yeah. And I’m cool with anything that can keep me rocking and keep me out of the HR conference room.
