We met that glorious summer my family went to the beach. I was young and didn’t know what I wanted. He was the Haier Portable 7” LCD TV with DVD/CD/MP3 Player and AM/FM. We met at the drug store and walked the boardwalk. When the sun went down, and I discovered the joys of his AM/FM radio. He walked me home that night and my parents had already gone to bed, so we sat and looked at the water and he played my favorite MP3. Everything was perfect.
We felt like it could go on forever. He came to dinner and my parents seemed to like him, even my father. On the Fourth of July we watched the fireworks and I learned about his analog TV reception. He said he loved me more than anyone.
Then, suddenly, it was over. He was gone. My friends at school said I should have known better, should have read about the digital changeover in 2009, but I was still a girl, really. He looked so sad and sincere. I took his hand and helped him into my room. He watched me as I lowered him to my bed, and then, for the first time ever, I put my favorite DVD into his built-in player. He gasped, astonished, but he did not ask me to stop.
In the morning I felt him breathing into my hair. I smiled and held him tight. I had given my Haier Portable 7” LCD TV with DVD/CD/MP3 Player and AM/FM something wonderful. A new reason to live.
