I don’t need some fancy script agent telling me my script is “derivative” and “borderline copyright infringement”. This is my VISION. My magnum opie, or whatever. How dare he tell me my story of a young man, an old star wizard, a smuggler, an alien bear-monkey thing, and a princess’ fight against “the Regime” and their super-weapon “The Planet Shatterer” isn’t worth their time. I’ll show Mr. Fancy Sunglasses. I’ll just use my savings and do it myself, like that guy who made that movie about the convenience store.
Huh. That can’t be right. I thought there was a lot more than that in my savings account. Oh, well. How much could an epic space opera cost to make, anyway? I’ve got a computer with sweet star swipes and special effects software, and that’s most of the movie right there. A few rubber masks, some dryer vent hose, a little duct tape, and this GFM 5.0 MP Digital Video Camera, and I’ll be ready to start shooting. Yeah, sure, it’s not the top of the line, but the price fits my micro-budget, and the VGA 640×480 movie resolution and 30 fps should be good enough for YouTube, where I’m sure my creation will be recognized for the genius it is. The 5 Megapixel sensor takes a good DVD-Quality MPEG-4 movie, too, so my screener copies will look awesome. It’s also pretty ideal for use as a web cam, just in case I need to video conference with any VERY apologetic Hollywood-types.
Now I just need to wrangle up some actors and ask my mom about providing the craft service. I need to get started soon, though. I’ve got six of these movies to film, and I’m planning on taking a twenty-year break between the third and fourth movies to make a movie about a humanoid duck from another world. I’m telling you, it’s going to be amazing.
