...but have you listened to some of the music they have?

I mean, don’t get me wrong, Janet, I think music is a really important part of life and I’m glad our kids have an affordable way to take their tunes on the go with these Digital Blue 512MB Disney Mix Stick mp3/WMA Players. I think eight hours of mp3 or 16 hours of WMA music is more than enough for a kid to enjoy and it falls just under my threshold for catastrophe should they forget to take it out of their pants pocket on laundry day or something.

But where are they getting these songs? I caught Lindsey listening to someone called Johnette Napolitano. Have you ever heard of her? Well it’s not exactly stuff I think our nine-year-old daughter is ready for, okay? Jake won’t stop singing Lou Reed’s “Berlin.” Well, no, it’s a good song, it just got us a lot of raised eyebrows at the Cub Scouts meeting. Even worse, Kirsten only put one song on hers, and it’s “Molten Light” by Chad VanGaalen.

Actually, now that I think about those three songs, maybe we should worry less about inappropriate lyrics and more about the fact that our children may be horribly depressed.
