As a rule of thumb, I like to make sure I’ve backed up my files AFTER I’ve gotten rid of all my ex-girlfriend’s stuff.

“Kelly, I’m home! I went ahead and stopped at the store to pick up some things for dinner tonight. I hope fried chicken is okay, because…”

Who’s Cheryl?

“Huh? What do you mean?”

Cheryl. The woman in all the photos in the folder on your computer’s desktop. That’s her name, isn’t it? It’s the name of the folder, so I assume it’s her name. She’s obviously VERY important to you.

“Oh, that thing. It’s really nothing, honey, honestly. My computer crashed this morning and I just needed to restore some stuff from my Clickfree 525 C1 Portable Automatic Backup Drive. It automatically loaded up the photos I used to have of my ex. Must’ve been up on desktop the last time I backed up my stuff, that’s all.”

Uh huh. So do you miss her? You miss her because you think she’s prettier than me, is that it?

“Really, honey? Are we really going to do this? I told you, they just happened to be on my 500GB backup drive. When I set it up, I plugged it into all the computers in the house so that they’d all automatically backup to one convenient place. When I activated Smart Restore, it migrated all of my old files to this machine and, yes, some of those files were photos of me and my ex-girlfriend Cheryl that I uploaded to Facebook or Flickr at the time. Honestly, there’s no reason to get upset here. If it bugs you, I’ll delete them again.”

That doesn’t answer my question.

“No, Kelly, I don’t think she’s prettier than you. Stop being so insecure! I swear I don’t know where you come up with this stuff.”

Maybe it’s the open Photoshop session where you’re replacing my face with hers in our wedding photos.

”...I’ll make an appointment for us at the marriage counselor tomorrow.”
