Gary trembled as he fitted the last of his three Athena Technologies WS-60 Wall-Mountable Speakers into place alongside his plasma TV. At last, it was happening. Just as his dreams had instructed, he had assembled the three Athena speakers and the Athena subwoofer. Now all that was left to do was to connect this last speaker to his receiver (sold separately), and the prophecy would be fulfilled. Was it his imagination, or did the air already crackle with magic? Or even, perhaps, magick?

For these speakers offered more than just space-saving design, superior bass response, and interchangeable left, right, or center positioning. Within their multi-transducer arrangements and Teteron 1” tweeter platforms lived a piece of the essence of Athena, the Greek goddess, trapped there by a sorceress jealous of her courage and wisdom. Only when these particular speakers were reunited would the curse be lifted and Athena rise again. It’s a good thing the sorceress chose this brand: lesser speakers can hardly handle a typical high-power load, much less a load of pure distilled godhood. Gary’s dreams had been unclear on how a lowly sorceress could imprison the soul of a goddess, and how exactly she could be trapped in objects that would not exist for thousands of years. But hey, he figured, we’re talking about the gods here. Why beat your brains out trying to understand it? They’re working on a whole other level.

Breath held, mind reeling, senses acute, Gary connected the final speaker. And felt a trembling. And heard a rushing noise. And saw a jagged seam of light coming from everywhere. In an acrid cloud of brimstone, there she stood in his TV room, seven feet tall if she was a dactylos. A helmet of bronze sat atop jet black curls. A majestic owl ruffled its wings on her shoulder. Her blazing eyes met his. Athena.

Whoa, Gary thought. What a total stone fox. And I’m the guy who set her free after thousands of years. This is about to get good.
