It’s the perfect gift idea. For…someone. We guess.

Boy oh boy, is someone going to appreciate this Altec Lansing Mini Speaker System for iPhone & iPod. They’ll be able to dock their iGadget to it, play music on tiny speakers with barely any bass, and- hmm…let’s see, maybe use it for an alarm clock, we guess. Oh yeah, says here you can even “make your morning routine a little more exciting with the free Alarm Rock App.”

Someone had to write that. Like, money changed hands for that. Yeesh.

If you use your iPhone or iPod as your alarm clock, then you’ve probably already got it figured out. We’re guessing doing things like changing the font or background photo and “setting alarms” is the kind of stuff you grew bored with roughly 20 minutes after you got your iPhone from the store.

Okay, selling points…um, wow. This is harder than it should be. Well, it comes with a free app, albeit a free app that’s completely superfluous since your iPhone/iPod already comes with the thing it does. Uh, you CAN use it with other mp3 players, since it’s got an auxiliary audio jack, so you don’t have to have an Apple product. It’s small, so it won’t take up much space in your room while it’s blasting not-very-high-quality sound.

It doesn’t have a remote to worry about losing. That’s…nice?

Okay, here’s why you’d buy this: someone you know, but don’t live with, loves to listen to music but not enough to invest in anything like a home theater or stereo system or boom box. They have a studio apartment, or maybe a dorm room, or maybe they just want music in their bathroom or on their nightstand or something. They’re also easily amused by free apps. They should be nice enough to appreciate the gesture of a gift, too.

Someone like that might like this thing.
