Partially recycled EVA provides comfort underfoot. Patagonia recycles rubber off their factory room floor that was cut away from a molded piece (flashing). Flashing is the excess rubber that squeezes out between the parts of the mold when compressed. Their 20% recycled rubber outsoles perform great and tread lightly. The travel- and vegan-friendly Patagonia Advocate Lace shoe is finished with a flexible rubber outsole for grip, traction and protection.
