Happy Music Monday! And HAPPY HALLOWEEN! Today Scott's just picked a few songs that are rockin'-yet-scary. We hope you join in with the rock or the scare as you see fit. BOOOOOOO.
The fusion between scary, punk rock and '50s rockabilly happened a long long time ago. Even still, it's rare to see someone haul a giant double bass on stage for a rock show! The idea of carrying that around on tour is the scariest part of this song for me.
More terror to come, and then it'll be YOUR TURN.
The Murder City Devils - Demon Brother
I know I found the Murder City Devils through a friend, but I can't recall what friend it was! If it was you, thank you very much. These Devils occupy a very special place in my heart, especially when I need driving around music.
The Cramps - I Was A Teenage Werewolf
I remember being a little kid and seeing a Cramps record on the wall of the record store. I knew from the font that this would be a scary band and didn't pick up the record. Now, of course, I wish I had. It's worth a lot! And of course, like all right-minded people, I learned to love the Cramps as I grew up.
I chose this instead of the classic "Last Caress" because some people might find the lyrics of "Last Caress" too controversial. How many bands from thirty years ago can still say that?
How could I NOT use this excuse to post a little Gwar? SHAME ON YOU IF YOU THOUGHT OTHERWISE
Hit up our Facebook page and maybe you can win a Misfits album on vinyl! A reissue, of course. Also let us just remind you: some images come from the corresponding Wikipedia page and are here under fair use. See you next week.
