Our annual bracket competition is back and it's all about those furry little creatures that love us, protect us, and destroy our homes on a daily basis.
Yes, I'm talking about dogs! (Cat lovers, feel free to excuse yourselves at this time.) It's a dog eat dog world out there and it's about to become one in here too as we watch the world's most beloved, reviled, and just generally well-known dogs face off in head to head challenge. How it works:
We're setting up polls that will pit all our favorite famous canines against each other and decide once and for all who is top dog. Polls will be open for voting throughout March on our home page. After each round of voting, half of the competitors will be knocked out until we are left with just one master of mutts!
Keep checking back on Woot throughout March to vote on matchups and watch as some dogs conquer while some are eliminated.
Anyone can vote on the matchups, but if you want to really get in on the fun (and maybe win yourself something nice in the process), you'll need to join the fantasy league and draft your very own canine dream team.
Here's how to play:
1. Draft your team. Check out the current bracket to see the competitors and their standings. From each of the four regions (Fictional Dogs (Live Action), Fictional Dogs (Animated), Historic/Literary Dogs, and Mascots/Celebrity Dogs/Etc.) you get to choose 1 player. The four players you choose make up your team. The draft is official when you post your selection as a comment on this blog post. It's ok for multiple players to draft the same team member or have the same teams- we want there to be enough options for everyone to play. Voting starts on Monday 3/14, draft picks are due by midnight that day!
2. Participate in the tournament. Vote for your team members or vote for who you believe is top dog (they don't have to be the same). For every percentage of the vote your team members take in their matches, you get that many points. Once one of your team members gets knocked out of the competition, they stop earning points for you, but you still get to keep all the points they earned up until then.
Also, keep track of your team's score as the tournament progresses. We'll post the poll results here on the blog after each round, but we're not going to keep track of your points for you.
3. Win!!! I mean, maybe win. Once the results are in from the final round, post your team's final score and we'll identify and verify the winners. You could end up winning yourself something nice...
