It's called amazon, only most books are available almost all the time.

If you are suggesting people write novels in a week to particular themes, I doubt that sort of literary production would be valuable. If given a month, it wouldn't be much better.

I don't hate the idea.

To expand on the idea, there could be a media.woot with daily deals of online downloads (movies, e-books, audiobooks, mp3 albums, etc...)
All DRM-free of course.

Agreed. A media.woot! would be awesome. Great deals on books, cd's, dvd's and hell maybe some records and the occasional eight track. Well maybe not the last one.
