This is easily the 3rd time I've seen this exact offering on woot, and they always present it like this. They make it pretty clear in the description, but just judging by the retail price of these, $60 would be an absolutely ridiculous deal for all 3

I guess, but that's a pretty cumbersome way of going about things. You can just buy the keyboard and use the included Session software to do that very easily, plus you can add some piano to that mix!

I was going to get this! That was before i realized you do not get all three.

wow - does it seem that there is no way they all cost exactly the same?

If it's possible they all cost exactly the same then I have to suspect that each are as worthless to me as the other.

I was hesitannt to buy all three for that price and I certanly am not affording 3x's that. LOL

I cant wait till 11 O clock my time for the next woot though. ;O)

And you are saying that rediculous is not what woots all about?

60 would be fine - I was even a little hesitant to jump on the 60.00 wagon for all three.
I am sure that if they can sell this ( Doo Doo ) for the low low price they are offering it for , it's probably actually worth 2/3rds less or they would not even have it.
on a stick.

For those who say Woot is using opportunity of selling 3 item in one, Don't you think if actuarially you need all, you are the beneficiary by paying only one $5 shipping instead of 3 on three different days, three different worry of arrival etc?

Just got all three and my son is very excited to put hand on it with friends...

Only hope is as this is the new package and not referb, I am not going to hassle of dealing with bad keys or non functioning levels and knobs as some others have had with prior referb deal...

Also my mac is G5 desktop Quad but non-Intel CPU. It still runs garageband. Hope have no incompatibility issues

I have the microphone and Mixlab. Both are awesome. I have a problem though with the session software though. I also own an M-audio blackbox, and i cant figure out how to use my blackbox with the session software unless i switch ASIO4All drivers to my Blackbox drivers. Its kind of a bummer to switch back and forth. Plus you cant use the software unless the keyboard or mic is plugged in. Its been good to learn a few things and play around, but if you are looking to get half way serious, I would buy the same product except the one that is bundled with protools. Thats just my thoughts. I dig it for the price i paid though.

So the keyboard and mic and associated software sound right up my alley: nice entry-level stuff, and no special features that pros would want but that would probably just confuse me.

Do I need the Mixlab at all? It sounds as if that's only for live DJing, but again, total newbie here.

Also: My desktop runs Windows Vista 64-bit, so it could definitely handle the software--but its fan is ridiculously loud, so I couldn't use it to record, at least not with the mic. My laptop is dream-quiet and can be easily hauled into the quietest room in the house (a walk-in closet)--but it runs Windows 7, and I actually don't know whether it's 32- or 64-bit, so I'm not entirely positive the software will work.

Will this stuff work for me? Should I plan on recording with the laptop and mixing with the desktop? Is that even possible?

Thanks much!

You do not need mixlab for recording. Mixlab is meant as a midi controller to be used with computer DJ software.

Does it make sense to use it for those purposes as would I be better served with a different solution?

This mic is WAAAY overkill for internet video phone calls, but would technically work. It's a very professional solution for home movie voiceovers.

Got the KeyStudio last time and it's awesome. Great deal.

For those who don't understand the description, the included software lets you play and record.

Just bought this and I can't hear scaffolding, at first it played just fine...then after one min it sounded terrible, as if I were on the cell phone while driving under a bridge T.T then...nothing.
Prob not going to shop online here again.

bkeokip wrote:Has anyone used the Keyboard in conjunction with Fruity Loops (FL) Studio 8 specifically? Can I program the keys on the board from the sound-banks in FL Studio?

Any MIDI keyboard (like this one) will work with FL Studio or any other MIDI DAW like Sonar or Ableton Live.

Just for a Pink Floyd fan: any new 49 key MIDI keyboard will run you at least $99 unless it's by a no-name brand, which M-Audio is not...

Not being sure which one you bought, I'll take a stab and guess the Mic. You should check for latest drivers throughout your system including audio and for latest patches on all software used.

agjelsteen wrote:Are the keys weighted?

Though they weigh, they are not weighted.

Seriously the touch is like your average cheap Casio keyboard, not necessarily a bad thing; just not weighted like a piano's key's since that would cost a LOT more.

Leslie14 wrote:Does this keyboard have the red light up keys so kids can learn to play their favorite songs??

No, but skip past all that and Youtube search for "Shawn Cheek easy piano lessons" and you'll get more than you can imagine.

Crlygrl34 wrote:Would this work for a 9 y/o who is taking piano lessons?

Yes, he just won't be developing the touch associated with Weighted keys of a true piano, not a biggie that he can easily overcome if he sticks with it and you move him up to a weighted version later (you don't have to buy an actual piano, just get a nice electronic one down the road that's weighted, then the baby grand after his first concert!).

Sweet, really knows nothing about dj-ing, but grabbed the torq mixlab and music producer. It's about time I learn. For the keyboard, I'll probably buy the 88 keystation. Woot - any sales for that soon? ;)

only if it was 61 keys........

(also, USB mic is listed twice in features)

Found a review:

CNET Review

The Good: The M-Audio Session Music Producer is an inexpensive, Mac/PC-compatible home recording package that includes a high-quality microphone and easy-to-use software.

The Bad: The M-Audio Session Music Producer microphone can only be connected over USB, and the included desktop microphone stand does not isolate against noise very well. The included PC-only software will only work when the microphone is connected and does not export MP3 files.

The Bottom Line: The M-Audio Session Music Producer is an affordable, computer-based recording solution that is ideally suited for recording singing and spoken performances such as podcasts.

Yes! It works with Finale.... and GREAT! Just plug it in and play. Hyperscribe works like a charm... love it. (p.s. I use a MAC)

Well, there are octave buttons on the keyboard if you were looking to write music in a different octave. I write and arrange music for horns in a band and this is a wonderful tool.

Hm.. wondering if I should buy the Torq Mixlab... I have enjoyed mixing stuff but just with keyboard and mouse so this would be easier. Should I pull the trigger?

First- the Mixlab is for DJing. Not usable for strict recording. Still, it's fun to play with.

I myself am a musician who does home recording. I am also a professional live sound engineer for theatre and concerts. This stuff would be nice for you. The keyboard does not feel like a real piano, but it is definitely usable. At entry level, these are great items. As I said earlier in this thread, I own all three items(bought from Woot!). The mic sounds great on my guitar and pretty good with vocals. If you plan on just doing some basic recording, you'll be fine with these items. However, if you plan on getting a little more serious, it may be worth buying a nice USB interface(around $150) and a decent condenser microphone(I recommend Audio-Technica as I work with them almost everyday. There is the AT2020 I believe for about $100) An interface could handle any microphone. Just a recommendation.

Also, you could go the laptop or desktop route. I use a high end laptop and it works. It depends on the computer's specs. M-Audio has drivers that work on 64 or 32 bit I believe and have them for Windows 7 (or coming out soon).

All in all, for you, I think these would be great items. I know they formed a strong basis for some of my recording.

I bought mine like this last time around and were not refurbs!

And it should work with the Mac I believe.

Nope, no shipping info yet for me. It shouldn't be long though. They say that they ship within 5 business days.

It's just that...I want to start playing with this damn thing right now! I've got songs in head right now that I would love to get out.

Not yet...this was my first Woot! so was not sure what to expect...I knew the slow shipping was going to be 'part of the price' but the logic does not follow to me...if they delay the shipping until another day and then they have more stuff to ship everyday it seems they are on a slippery slope of being forever back logged...perhaps someone who has worked in a shipping department could expound upon this and explain the logic? If they have everything ready to go out and are just waiting to take advantage of a cheap ship date (like cheap air fair deals) then awesome I'm all for it; but I have not a clue...

My first Woot also. I love ordering online because of the better prices and have been monitoring Woot for some time now before they listed this Keyboard controller and I had to have it...but I kinda hate waiting for things. Though I do enjoy getting that tracking notification info because, at least I know when to expect my new toy. I don't trust the neighborhood and worry about Fedex just leaving it at my door, while I am out at work, all exposed to theft.

If you can do what I do; have it delivered to your place of employment. We have an administrative assistant who can sign for packages, the only bad thing is the unopened box taunts me through the day!
