First reply from irobot (in less then an hour, not bad):

----

We apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced. If your Home Base® POWER light is on, but the DOCKED light (indicated by a lightening bolt) will not come on, please try the following steps:

1. Move the Roomba around on the Home Base® to see if the DOCKED light will illuminate.

2. Ensure that the four screws holding your Roomba's bottom cover are all tightly screwed in and in place. If you are missing a screw, please contact us so that we can send you a new set.

3. Using an eraser, clean off the two silver contacts on the Home Base®, as well as the matching silver contacts on the bottom of the Roomba.

4. Using a dry cloth, wipe of the window on the front of the Home Base®. Also wipe the raised ring on top of the Roomba's front bumper.

---

Going top try it, will report back.

New reply from iRobot - they want to do an in-warranty exchange on the base unit. Gave my permission for them to do so, and now awaiting further information on the process.

New reply from iRobot - my "new" home base is ordered/processed and should arrive in 7-10 business days.

Not "great" per se, but stuff happens, and they're willing to replace it with no out of pocket on my end. Problem was first posted here at 1:30pm and by 3pm they've begun the process to send me a new one.

Will try to remember to post if it fixes the problem once it arrives (could theorhetically be my bot, but it seems to work). I'll definitely post if it doesn't fix it, more likely to forget to update should it work flawlessly ;)

I received my refurbished 530 yesterday, set it up on the docking station and the start button light started pulsing showing that it was charging. After about 15 minutes it beeped a couple of times and the lights went out. Now it seems to be dead. The docking station appears to be O.K., putting out about 22.5VDC. I removed the battery and reinstalled with no result.
Any help is appreciated.

Mine arrived in Ohio on Thursday. 6 calendar days from order is pretty awesome.

Giving it as a gift today to my gf. Opened it last night to check it out since it is a refurb. Did not run it yet, but it was packaged very well, and looks to be cosmetically new. Only place I noticed any wear was on the metal contact which dock the unit. Saw minor scuffs in the metal which would come from use. Not too bad though, maybe mine was used infrequently.

Uh oh with 6 beeps out of box - after overnight charging that is. Yet to hear back from support.

The 6 beeps is for the cliff detection system. Checked, they looked clean, but I cleaned them anyway. Same thing. Argh...

Mine failed too. Worked great on the first day, cleaned perfectly. Now I get 5 beeps and the stupid little thing rolls in circles.

iRobot is sending a replacement new unit, minus the excessories which includes the battery. I'm wondering if it might be my battery.

Mine doesn't work at all. I set it on the charger. It seems like it is charging. (The orange light is pulsing). About 15 minutes later it says "Charging Error #5" and flashes red. I sent iRobot an email. Let's see what happens.

Same here ...

Received mine. Upon inspection, the 530 seemed new. Saw no signs of wear. Plugged in the dock and let the 530 dock itself. It charged for around 30 minutes before giving the full charge signal.

So far I have ran it for about 4 to 5 hours in total over 3 days time. Everything is working just as should be. Massive amounts of dog hair in the house and the 530 is picking it up just fine. Was prompted once to clean a part... sure enough the dog hair had accumulated. No complaints though, I don't mind cleaning the 530 to keep it functioning properly.

You know... you could try to contact iRobot.

Received mine yesterday (my birthday!) Packaging was great, suitable for gifting, FYI. The unit looked brand new to me. Let it charge for half a day before using it, and it works great. It will run for a solid hour before deciding to head back to the home base for some rest. Couldn't be happier with the purchase, will be looking for another one!

Remember to clean out the rollers, dust bin, filter etc after each run!

Purchasd mine in August. It does not go under my furniture!:-( Still in box and never used....anyone interested? $129 plus shipping

Ours also kept giving out the error 5 during charging also. So I took out the 4 screws, removed the battery, rubbed the contact points a little, placed it back and no more error 5s.

Of course now we have the cliff hanger (sorry sensor) problem now. This time, I don't think there is a permanent DIY fix.

Incredibly, but our first and entry point Roomba and subsequent Scooba works fine but this 530 can't figure out the steps and stops. KISS comes to mine (Keep it simple s...) The more sophiscated stair detection system fails.

According to Fedex, my Roomba has been shipping back and forth between two northern Colorado towns (I live in the four corners area) up until Friday afternoon. Now there is no new information...

Come on Fedx, I want my Romba!

Hope yours works when you get it mate.

Still nothing from support on my failed Roomba...

My unit gives the 9 beep error after circling backwards for about a minute. This has something to do with the bumper. I tapped it and blew compressed air into it as recommended by iRobot support, but it still gives the error. They will hopefully let me RMA it. Waiting to hear back from them.

I'm not happy with the purchase yet.

I bought two of these roomba 530's, one works perfectly, but having issues with the second one, it charges with the amber lihgt pulsing for a few hours then starts blinking red along with the trouble shooting light, any suggestions? have tried reseting with battery out, problem still persists...

Our Roomba (we call it "Penny") has been working hard ever since Saturday. If gets caught under one sofa in the living room but otherwise it's been great.

I have to close the bathroom door before cleaning the hallway or it will bump the door closed and shut itself in.

I've already ordered a couple of additional virtual walls and a small cleaning brush from iRobot. They're running a special where you buy one virtual wall and they give you another for free - this makes it about $20 cheaper than Amazon for 2.

I'm a techie type and personally, I wouldn't buy a refurb one. Based on my current and broken 530, if I had managed to buy another problematic one for my mother-in-law, it would have been a nightmare and very bad PR for me!!

I'm still awaiting word from irobot about fixing my refurb 530 while our much older bought-new entry-level roomba is whirling away.

FINALLY received it today. A little nervous after reading some of the comments on here and the bad experiences. I'll report back later with me results. Wish me luck!

Received mine today. Plugged in to base and it charged for about an hour before turning the light on green. It ran around the house for about an hour and 10 minutes straight while I anxiously watched it. In that time, it collected enough that I had to empty the trap and decided to let it rest after it had completely finished two rooms. Thanks Woot!

Well, I charged her up and she's been cleaning away! She did my room and it was pretty bad under my bed I guess (had to clean the rollers twice already). But Lucy (yeah I named her already) is doing a great job. She's in the kitchen now. I'm curious to see if she'll find her home once she's done.

I live in a small one bedroom apartment and she's getting around quite nicely. She didn't pick up the cat toy (which I thought she might since it's like a little mouse). She's moving from the carpet to the linoleum fine.

My cats are very interested in this thing and keep following it around the apartment.

So far so good!! I'm happy with my purchase. I'm going to go back to watching her now. It's really fun to watch for some reason.

Small update, I have a fedex tracking number now for my replacement home base.

In other roomnba news.. I was worried prior to purchase about my brown carpet. It's not been a problem (the cliff detection system fails on soem brown colored carpets) but poor roomba has all kinds of issues on one of my area rugs with very dark brown sections.

It's sort of funny to watch it get trapped in the middle of the carpet, but a little sad too. It thinks every dark brown patch is a cliff and sort of freaks out - like it's surrounded by land mines.

I was wondering if it says anywhere that it is refurbished. i was going to get this as a gift and don't really want them to know its refurbished. thanks!

The box says that it is 'reconditioned' on it.

I got a response from iRobot the day after I submitted my question. My Roomba is working perfectly now!!!

Mine came on Tuesday and I am very happy! Have used it the past few nights and love it. I think in the 3 days I've vacuumed more then I have in the past 2 months.

It does have some issue finding its home, but I can deal with that. I think I just do not have a good enough place to put its dock.

I did register it online tonight and it came back and told me I had a year warranty. Not sure if its a system screw up or what, but I am happy.

My Roomba is working pretty good. Cleans up like it should and then goes and stands in its corner like an obedient boy. Pretty happy about my first Woot purchase so far !

cadet502

Ordered and received 2 from this sale. Fedex cost 5 days screwing around or I would have had them sooner. Unboxed and charged one up. WAF not high at first, but after it took care of all rooms over two days this weekend, WAF is much much higher.

I was pondering leaving the second one packed up as a spare, but it might be a better idea to drag it out and charge it to make sure there are no problems. We can always leave one upstairs and one downstairs.

Happy so far.

Well iRobot sent me a new one that works and did not make me ship the malfunctioning one back. The new unit had everything but the battery, and oddly enough seems to be a 531 model per the label on the bottom. So I have two Roombas, and if I mess with fixing the broken one and buy a new battery, I'll have two working ones.

Anyway, I'm happy now.

Eva (companion to 3000 series Wall-E who now handles the 2nd floor) is AMAZING! I can't believe how much quieter she is and I LOVE that she returns to her base to charge. I haven't had any problems and she's cleaned 4 rooms at least twice since recieved without problems. THANK YOU WOOT!!

My Roomba name is Rudy! And he is a joy! Wish I would of picked up one of these a long time ago. He has been working for about three weeks now and cleans up even Christmas tree needles!
Love it!!

Hi, I have the same problem with my roomba, although I have not had a response back from irobot. Can you advise me what they advised you to do to fix the problem, thanks.
