Ok, take the height of legs of the sofa (which I assume you could measure with a ruler or a tape measure) and compare that to the height of the Roomba 530 (which is about 3.0 inches - I found this on Google in very little time).

Now, here's the tricky part... If the space under the sofa is LESS THAN OR EQUAL TO the 3 inches the Roomba WILL NOT fit. If however, the space under the sofa is MORE THAN 3 inches, then the Roomba WILL fit. This can be expressed as a simple algebraic expression:

x - 3 = y;

Let x = the height of the couch (e.g. you supply this). Solve for y.

if y <= 0, then the Roomba will not fit.
else, Roomba will fit.

This is a very tempting price. iRobot sells the same refurb model on its website for $199 + tax and shipping.

What has been everyone's experience with refurbished products from WOOT?

First time Wooter here. I keep seeing these things and finally bought one. Everybody says they're good at picking up pet hair - which is great because my cat has a tendency to eat the hair that he leaves on the floor and then barf it back up later.

While I'm hoping this device will reduce or eliminate this practice... what do you suppose it will do if it encounters a wet pile of cat barf? Will it just smear it all over the place or what?

While no Roomba is ever as noisy as a full sized vacuum, it should be noted that the 4xx series are much louder than the newer 5xx models, such as this one.

I have one of these (paid a lot more for it) and it's just excellent! I set it to clean my kitchen rug several times a week (dark blue, lots of leaves from outside and doghair from inside) and go off to work. Kitchen floor is immaculate (well, pretty darn good) when I get home. Really glad I have one! Does other rooms just as well.

I've had my Roomba run over pet barf and other accidents, and believe me, it's not good.

The problem is not spreading it around, it's the amount of time you will spend cleaning your Roomba after it encounters the mess.

If you have a cat that barfs a lot, I would not recommend getting a Roomba, or at the very least not running it unattended in areas where the cat may be leaving a special surprise...

It's a good price, but the last time they offered a Roomba they had the Roomba 535, which is actually a far superior model because it can use the lighthouses as well as be scheduled for $149 BRAND NEW.

Not saying this isn't a good deal, because it is. I'm just saying that they have had better deals, and you should keep in mind that when you buy a brand new Roomba you get a 1 year manufacturers warranty which can be doubled for free by many credit cards such as Amex, whereas when you buy a refurbished model you only get a 90 day manufacturers warranty and usually credit cards will not double warranties on refurbs.

My advice is that if you buy a refurb, be prepared to do routine maintenance and repairs yourself. If you're the type who doesn't want to bother tinkering with it, then get a new one that you can send back if you ever have a problem.

No, it's not.

Some people have success using an external step down converter, but it is not officially supported by iRobot.

You can find a lengthy discussion about various solutions people have used over the years to modify the power supply to 220v here:

There are also several threads dealing with various power supply solutions for different countries in the following forum:

I love love love my roomba. I bought the pet hair model at Hammecher Schlemmer cause I wanted the lifetime guarantee. Now I want one for my daughter. If I buy this can I have it shipped somewhere else?

I picked up a 530 on a prior wooting, and then got a 560 on sale at Amazon (so we have one for each floor of the house). They're really great, but be aware that they do have to be cleaned after each run, and extracting hair (if you have long hair types in the house) does eat into the "time savings" running the thing. Plus you'll still have to go around and dust, etc. Get rid of your upright and invest in a canister vac since you'll be using tools!

Anyway, the house is definitely a lot cleaner since we invested in roombas. One of these days I may even hack one.

The remote on the irobot site is compatible with the 530 and allows you to program a schedule. Wait until you get the roomba, since you'll get 10% off after registering on your first accessory order.

I can't say enough (good) about this vacuum! Floors are clean-it is fabulous! I have had one for over two years and now I need another one!

Roomba = magic.

I push one button, and the kids get quiet as they watch in amazement the little robot go to work. The dog gets quiet (I think she is concerned she is being replaced) and my wife is happy with all the above, AND the floor gets clean.

All I do is push one button, and life is peaceful... for a while... and that to me is magic.

I bought one of these when they were offered a little while back. I have been so happy with mine, I just got a couple more for gifts for Christmas. This is a great little machine!

In for 1. Thanks Woot!

ItIsWhatItIs

Purchased this the last time around and had problems ever since. First time they sent me a new battery and went that did not work they sent me a new "refurbished" unit. Worked less than a week and then I had issues with the brushes. I-Robot sent me a new brush unit and for now it's working.

I use it mostly on hardwood floors so I was suprised with all the problems.

I have at least 5 family members that have roombas and have raved about them but I have not been too impressed.

I want to add that I-Robot has been very helpful to resolve the problems but I'm getting really tired of having to call them.

I've bought lots of stuff refurb from Woot, including 2 Roombas. I've never had any issues, with the products outside those people have with new ones. For example, Roomba 4xx models and batteries. But even then, iRobot always has honored the warranty, and on a couple of occasions has replaced items "slighty' out of warranty.

63 Woots (Qty 98 Items for $2,398.50 + $265 Shipping) including:
3, Futbols, 5lb Pistachios, 2 Woot-Off Lights, 3 Stanley Garage Cabinets, 3 Screaming Monkeys (Blue Capes), 1 B O C (backpack, Rat Fink, SnakDaddy, Sennheiser headset), 3 Roombas, 6 Leakfrogs
7 Hard Drives (all refurbs, all going strong), 31 Misc. Computer items, Jewelry, 6 Toys, Misc. Tools, 1 Screaming Monkey T
and my very first Woot OmniFi DMP1 Car Jukebox

The ONLY issues I've had with the refurb Roombas off of Woot! has been the batteries. They often come dead or very close to dead.

Expensive to replace at $60 a pop, but well worth it. I've an army of Roombas I've been training in various combat techniques, preparing them for the day when I take over the world.

This is a terrible equation. You have completely failed to compensate for the indoor humidity level that can slightly swell the structural underlayment of the floor and thereby raise or lower the floor. I know that the suction from the Roomba can in fact slightly lower the device to the floor, thereby cancelling out the difference but that is only a theory and has never been rigorously peer-reviewed and should not be relied upon!

Or something like that.

Costco sells Roomba again. But I think a comparable model is around $240.

We named ours OCD - lost her during the flood - now we have a replacement!

I have two observations to share, based upon my experiences with Woot Irobot refurbs:

1) I have purchase two (2) Roombas and one Scooba from Woot ... all were refurbs. Initially I was thrilled to have gotten (what I thought) were good deals. The first roomba died after about 11 months. Replacing the battery (expensive) did no good. The second roomba replaced the first and has been going well for about a year ... after another ($50) battery replacement. The scooba has had a few issues but ran well for about 18 months until a few weeks ago when it fails to spray cleaner on the floor. It moves but no cleaner means no clean floor. So, at the end of almost two years of ownership I am down to one (1) working unit. DO NOT ask how much I have invested in three units and two extra batteries. Was it worth it? Truthfully, I expected my investment to pay off for a longer time.

2) I believe the Roomba 530 was being sold (during the last Woot-off) with a Dirt Dog robot (both NEW) for only $199. This would make this refurbed 530 a not-so-good deal in comparison.

blackasphodel

I have this model (purchased from a previous Woot) and the only real issue it has had is it does not seem to be able to sense my stove (which is black) so it runs into it at full tilt when it goes into the kitchen. Otherwise the collision detection works well and I am continuously surprised at how much stuff it can pick up from the floor and carpets.

I bought one of these last time, and it was worthless, a huge disappointment. Easier to just vacuum myself. Sold it on ebay, came near to breaking even.

I purchased this very model and condition (refurbished) the last time it was up on Woot!. I have a 1,500sf condo with both carpet, wood and tile flooring and two kitty cats. This little guy does a great job in picking up everything, including pet hair. It cleans the entire condo on one charge. I am particularly fond of the little "waggle" my Roomba does when he is lining himself up to re-dock with his home base. With refurbs it is a gamble sometimes but overall my refurbished Roomba has performed as good as new...

I did the same & I have no pets, I just thought the pet model would be a'lil tougher. Roomba's are cool, but don't expect them to last too long. I actually think that using the scheduling function over works these things. I'm glad my new 1 doesn't have it & now I only run it when I don't have time to use my regular vaccuum. Regardless, even considering the Hammacher Schlemmer guarantee....this is still a good price if you're willing to expect it to not last long.

Thought about getting one but I don't want to happen last time I bought something while waiting for my Bag O Carp to arrive.

Last time, I bought a Sansa mp3 player just days after I got a Bag O Carp in the Woot-Off. To my surprise, I got 3 Sansa players, all working and 2 the same model as I bought, in the Random Carp package.

Since Roombas have been known to come in the Bag O Carp, I know as soon as I buy this one, I will get one in the Carp. So this time I will wait to see what I get first. I pretty much know there will be more opportunities to buy a Roomba on Woot before the end of the year holiday giving season.

What I want to know is: Is this really a vacuum or does it just sweep the floor like my Swivel Sweeper (that doesn't really do much of anything besides throw the dirt around)? That was 24.99 down the drain. I don't wan't to be disappointed to the tune of $135......

tvscout

I had one of the first Roomba models (a red one) YEARS ago... my only problem with it is that it would scratch our hardwood floor - which is why it got limited use. Does anyone know if this is still a problem? Otherwise it was the coolest!
