Rent one

Most people only use one of these -2 times a year, and it does not make sense to spend $1500-2000 for a 16 hp/3000 psi unit - which will clean anything - fast.

~$50 will get you 24 hrs of use

If you must buy one - Sams/Costco/Northern Tools all have gas options that run $400+, start your search there. Honda motors are more expensive, but "typically" last longer

Soapie0 wrote:Okay, I trust you guys. But, at that price we could get both the china cabinet and the pressure washer. We've never bought one and my DH told me to research it and find the one we need. What do we need? I'm just looking for a pressure washer that kicks butt and blasts the "mildew" look off the house. I like that this one had soap. Do they all have soap? Do they all have attachments?

Any reccommendations for a clueless wife whose husband assumes she can find anything on the Internet. I can! I found you guys who are going to tell me what to look for and what to do - right, guys?

I did commercial pressure washing for fourish years a while back. It really depends on what your trying to clean.

If its just surface mold and mildew, the unit will work fine for it pending you rinse it with a bleach mix (using the soap hose) first and let it sit for 15 mins. Then hit it with the pressure.

Other than that it wont do squat, these are too low pressure and water flow. It wont clean your brick at all.

If you want something for everything, save your money, go rent a decent model for $50 at your local HD or Lowes, and use the other $55 to go out to dinner.

My bad, How much oil does the compresser hold? Oh and pretty sure that the cord coming off it means it's not gas powered? But I could be wrong.

I have this. Ihave used it biweekly for almost 1 year and it works GREAT. I have no idea who these others bought thiers from but I love it and would buy another IF this one ever stopped working.

I had one of those; rarely used it; broke after 13 months :-(. Also, water pick-up from lake (special attachment) did not work plus it fell in the lake. I will never buy a Karcher producr again.

I sell these for a living. This is a residential machine. Its fine for washing your car or blasting dirt off the house, but it isn't designed for daily use. If you want a daily use electric machine its going to run you about a grand. If you want a daily use with some real power, you have to have 230v power.

The overwhelming majority of these "refurbished" units were bought by people, used to wash what ever they wanted clean, then returned for a full refund. Too cheap to rent a unit I guess. Very few had any problems what so ever when examined. Thats the problem with selling machines to the big box retailers, you have to take everything back with no questions asked.

pressure washers like these are more for the clean car fanatic that likes to spend half of saturday cleaning/detailing their car. They aren't really meant for constant use/abuse like gas models.

I'm sure if you use it for 10-15 mins you use it, it will last a LONG time.

again, its not commercial grade, so dont pretend that it is.

What are you referring to that totals $105?

An electric unit with a Honda engine?

Hmmm. Interesting.

have a similar model. It's not had any reliability problems for me but it's not a miracle device. If you'e cleaning dirty concrete then this will do it in very very small sections. For anything else though I've used it with great success. Cleans my deck and my front porch no problem.

jaredjon2000

Got mine at Target a year ago and it exploded in my face. Quite a dangerous unit. Oh and water and electricity don't play well together. Get a gas one.

Why, you nerds want credit for finding $hlt that anybody can google? It's GREAT to have someone edit their posts and put all the important info up front. Brown nose.

I have one of these Karcher pressure washers-similiar model/appearance. I paid a few bucks more for mine and could not be happier. I use mine to clean concrete and wash siding/brick among other things. Two years-no problems.

i have a Karcher, and i think it works very well. i have had it for over 5 years, without a problem. i think it is around 1300-1500 PSI. it is good for removing mold, cleaning the car, but it really doesnt have the power that my Honda gas-powered pressure washer does. i wouldnt recomend trying to whiten a driveway with it. it doesnt have the power to remove oil stains, and it would just take too long.

but it has its purposes, and runs very well.

Owned the previous model; broke after three or four uses. The man at the Karcher Authorized Repair Center just laughed when I brought it in.

y'all play nice now, ya hear?

Had one, it broke. The authorized repair shop wanted more than I paid for it to fix it. Pressure wasn't great. Piece of poop.

I've got a Karcher 1800 PSI. It's coming on 3 years old. It does a fine job on washing the deck, horse trailer, windows, siding, sidewalk, car wheels, patio furniture, etc. Plenty of PSI for the basic home use. Any more and it would be too much for these tasks (I do have to be careful of the paint on the siding and I have used it to strip peeling paint from the deck). If you've got something really major that you want a power washer to strip paint or remove really stuck stuff, then the previous advice on renting a gas powered one is good. Otherwise, this machine, at $80 is a good deal for home use. And mine is still working like a charm.

SAVE your money. This is JUNK when it's new and this one is refurbished which means its already crapped out once.

Don't be a sucker. BUY GAS. (Go to Costco)

Thanks to all the people who posted review links and personal testimony. I had planned to buy one of these, but after reading through several posts, have reconsidered.

Maybe next time woot....maybe next time.

Google : refurbished gas power washer

Much better deal $194....free ship

You need one of these, along with an air compressor if you ever want to use a snow gun... Keep that in mind.

I have never posted comments before but i feel compelled to this time.

BUYER BEWARE!!!

I BOUGHT ONE OF THESE REFURBED AT A CLOSEOUT STORE. THOUGHT IT WAS A GREAT DEAL. USED IT ONCE NEVER WORKED AGAIN. TOSSED IT IN THE TRASH. NOT WOOTS FAULT. BUT YA GOTTA ASK YOURSELF. HOW IS IT THAT THIS COMPANY HAS SO MANY REFURBS AVAILABLE,. EVERYWHERE???? I WOULD DO AS I DID. GO SPEND THE EXTRA MONEY ON A GAS POWERED UNIT AND HAVE IT FOR EVER.

alotbsol

I guess I had the model before this because the casing is slightly different - regardless, it was far less powerfull than the one it replaced. I wouldnt recommend.

dirtyturtle69

bought one not through woot but it was a total worthless piece, then to take them up on the warranty, you had to pay for it to be shipped before they sent you another total piece. DO NOT waste your money on this one.

DelawareJack

I bought one last time. Can you spell MISTAKE! If you are considering this, take the $79.95 you could have spent, turn them into .25 coins and toss them off the nearest bridge. At least you will have fun 319 times. As for cleaning anything, this is utterly useless.

Soapie: You have money for only one large Christmas purchase and you've narrowed it to pressure washer or china cabinet? Sounds like you need to become Jewish: skip Christmas and save your $$. For the mildew on the house, you can buy a hose spray at Home Depot. China cabinets seem more fitting for really old people or for really rich people.

I have two of these. Best pressure washers I have owned. Looks like a good deal to me

Bought one of these new from Sam's a few years ago...still going strong. Nice for small jobs around the house (cleaning walkway, wood fence, etc.). Definitely not as powerful as gas, but none of the electric units are. Works well for what it is intended. Strong enough to remove paint from surfaces.

Ha! I thought it was 99.99 not 79.99. Oops. Was referring to 99.99 + 5 for shipping :P

I bought this model last year from Woot and got to finally use it this past August on an old and very greasy/oily/dirty farm tractor that I purchased at auction. The unit worked wonderfully removing years of built-up grime. We also used it to remove several years of bird poop that covered my son's two kayaks that were stored in my barn. It did what it was designed to do at 1800 psi. If you need a professional sprayer than pay the big bucks for the psi. But for 80 dollars you can't beat it. By the way, there are two spraying wands. One, I would use on a car without fear of paint removal and the other wand is adjustable for different pressures. This is the one I used on my tractor and I did spray my fingers to test psi power. My fingers hurt after that test. I am satisfied with my purchase.

I will second all of the comments above that this is light duty only.

I bought one of these for cleaning my driveway, sidewalks, roof, deck, and walls and windows. I live in the Seattle area and those activities do involve removing moss.

The Karcher lasted me about two years. I replaced it with a gas powered 2500 psi 3 gpm unit that I found on sale at Home Depot for about $500. That was one of the best purchases I've ever made.

For my purposes, the big difference is the time required to do the job. The Karcher would work for those applications if I used the finest (i.e., highest pressure) nozzle. But with the gas unit the job goes about 10x faster, Instead of spending most of a weekend doing spring cleaning pressure washing, I can get the job done in about three hours.

The other big difference is in reaching high spots, To reasonably get to anything higher than about eight feet off the ground with the Karcher, you need to be on a ladder. With my gas unit I can stand on the ground and still land a sufficiently powerful stream for house cleaning up to twenty feet.

If your only uses are to wash cars and windows, the Karcher will serve just fine. If your needs go much beyond that a gas unit will be a better choice.

That's not to say the Karcher won't do some of those heavier jobs, but the heavier duty unit will do the job much better and much more quickly. When I had my Karcher I was pleased with how it performed in cleaning applications, and would have offered a ringing endorsement of the unit for those purposes. But after having used a good quality pressure washer for the same job I can't recommend the Karcher for anything beyond light service usages.

I have a similar model. I bought it to wash my deck. It took the gray off just fine. I thought about gas but for as often as I will use this and for ease of the g/f using it, I opted for electric.

And, I can treat the pump and just put the whole unit in the basement over the winter. Something I would not do with a gas.

"Condition:
Refurbished"

No kidding. They all have to be.

Actually have seen 2 that worked well over years. But that's out of 10 or 12, not great odds.

Can someone accurately state the difference in pressure/volume of this unit compared to a basic carwash?

I had this one for about 3 months. It ruptured a seal inside and it would have cost me more to fix it than I paid originally for it.
