You can use them to clean oxidation off wood decks or fences but you have to get real close to them so the spray is about 2 or three inches wide. With pressure washers the GPM number is probably more important than the psi number. I've prepped my fence for staining with this model and it took a few days. I borrowed my neighbors gas model and it took a few hours. They are good for washing cars, grills or plain dirt off sidings. If you store this in a garage or shed where it could get below freezing make sure every last bit of water is out of them or the plastic parts will crack

I purchased this about 15 months ago from Big Lots and have had the same experience. I was able to clean my whole fence and it was a fairly big job but did a nice job. Gets loose dirt off the house but nothing more. You can use it to clean the sidewalk in front of your house but takes a long time also. Worked very well for cleaning vinyl patio chairs.

I have one of these (warning you need a 20 amp breaker or it will pop the breaker once you turn up the pressure) and a craftsman. They are both good for washing the crud off your house, car, boat... etc. But no it won't peel off paint from your car, it will peel old crumbling paint off your house. And get an extended warranty from squaretrade. Because they breakdown at least once in your two year warranty, and they will fix or pay your $79 back.
They are made in China, what do you expect?
The Craftman is the best though. Its $180 though. And I think it's made in Mexico or Taiwan... hehe

I own a similar model. I cleaned a whole 20 x 16 paver patio (yes, I had apply paver sand all over again) to clean the pavers. I used the dirt blaster nozzle and I got very good results. Same with my son's deck (though contrary to what others are saying here, that dirt blaster nozzle will carve up the wood if you get too close, so be careful you'd be a fool to aim it at any body parts). Is it 'great'? No. But is isn't a gas engine with gas engine maintenance and it does clean pretty darned well. BTW: I echo the comment on the detergent tank. I might not say useless, but you have to hang it carefully.

Of course you gotta put oil in it. I change the oil in my coffee maker every 3000 cups. The manufacturer recomends an oil change every 6000 cups but I'm not takin any chances.

The significant other has been nagging me for a bidet. Perfect timing, Woot! Nothing says a minty-fresh Valentine's Day like a Karcher 1750.

stevendhowland

The Worlds best window screen washer, works fine for small jobs and thats what I bought mine for last year. No maintenance, just plug and go.

daiuy

I bought one from woot several years ago. I use it occasionally for minor jobs such as cleaning the porch siding, screens, and floors. No complaints.

Electricity and a high pressure conductive fluid. Yay!

Don't waste your time and money:

1 - Electric pressure washers are like toys and are useless for most tasks. I now have a gas pressure washer (2600 psi) and would never go back. It's like day and night. It's worse spending a bit more and have something that actually works.

2 - Karcher non professional products are cheaply built and won't last.

3 - Karcher warranty and support are pathetic.

4 - It's difficult / expensive to get Karcher spare parts.

Rustyh3

Not all Karcher electric pressure washers are bad.

We have 4 total washers. 2 gas and 2 electric.

Both electric are Karcher. Pumps have worked well. I have replaced the wands which requires new hoses as well. In my experience the wand attachments do not last.

However Northern Tool has a house brand now that looks to be a good value.

Good washer for moderate household use.

Folks, I happen to know that Karcher warranties these "refurbished electric" models for only 30 days. The new ones come with a 12 month warranty. These refurbished ones are the ones that they refurbished while they were under warranty. If you own one, their local warranty centers are instructed to tell the consumer to contact Karcher for a free replacement (while under either of those two different warranty periods). However, if they go bad while out of warranty, the parts are fairly expensive.

My advise is, if you intend to frequently use your pressure washer, consider a "gas powered" model. These usually have small one cylinder gasoline powered engines powering the pump, and those usually have metal pumps. The electric models usually have plastic pumps. The heat builds up after 30 minutes or so and sometimes actually deforms the plastic pump. Therefore, allow your electric PW to cool off for 30 minutes after every 30 minutes of use.

I hope this is helpful info for you.

Dont buy this, the inner seal breaks and there is no way to fix it.

Actually parts are readily available. Their distributor is www.Stens.com. Their website will direct you to either a warranty center or parts retailer by your zip code.

I've had a similar model for 2 years now and it does great. Keep in mind, it is only for home use and isn't nearly as powerful as an industrial version (or as expensive). I use it to clean windows, my driveway, and the engines in our cars.

I have no idea where they got the 1750 psi reading, because it sure doesn't feel like it.

BozoOnThisBus

Had this exact model. It is poorly-designed and even more poorly-constructed. Started falling apart the first season we owned it. Replaced it with a 2500 PSI Huskee model the next spring, and it is still holding up fine. I don't recommend this product at ANY price!

I've had a 1600 Karcher for at least 5 years. I bought it for HOME use. My wife wanted to clean the siding. Works every time it gets plugged in. Don't need to do those gas things, is it full, is the gas old, is it gummed up, is the oil full, should I change the oil? I have 6 gas motor powered devices in the garage now. If you are a motor head and love the sound and smell of a B&S buzzing along then you may be driven to get a gas powered UNIT. BUT if you want your wife to clean the siding then get her the one she can plug in. As for me, I use it regularly to clean my meat smoker. Blasting the smoker and racks after smoking 6 racks of ribs is the only way to go. I know nothing about the quality of this model but my 1600psi Karcher has served US well.

Bought one at Sam's Club a couple of years ago. After about a month the unit lost all pressure. The mnfg. was quick to send a replacement, and I returned the defective unit. This replacement lasted only a few months, and the same thing happened.

I called Sam's and they said to just bring it back and they would refund my money. Thank goodness.

I would never buy one again.

I like it! I bought one of these at Lowes a couple of years ago for I think about $136.00.
It has worked very well with no problems. I use it to wash the siding on my house. Removes grime and moss quickly. I wash my truck with it-easy no problems. I also clean my driveway with it. I have one rule for maintaining its well being: Never connect the power cord until water supply presure is connected and I have allowed the pump to be filled with water. Most high pressure pumps will fail quickly if they run out of water. After two years this unit works like new.

ps: Use caution to avoid hose kinks that could cut off water supply while you are working and make sure water connections are secure. Be sure to drain water out of it for winter storage below freezing.

I bought a refurbished pressure washer once. ONCE. Never again. I suspect they all fall prey to the same problem. Poor engineering/construction. They leak, the hose splits, etc. That's why they get refurbed.

It will last one season.....You will be lucky if you get two....

Better to buy a nice gas powered on.....

These are like previous people have said....are not very durable....

wch2009

DON'T TOUCH THESE...I owned two of these...cheapo pumps corrode within a few uses and freeze up...save your $$$ and buy a quality washer for $1,000 - I bought a used Home Depot commercial rental unit for $500 and it starts every time and blasts whatever you aim it at...always buy quality and years from now, you'll still have a pressure washer that will rip the paint off of anything !

Bought a Hoover Vacuum from Woot a couple months - junk, too...I'm rethinking this Woot business plan...

I use one of these everyday at work. My boss has bought 4 in the past 7 months because they break. He keeps getting a replacement plan on them knowing they will.

kjou2001

I bought it at Sams club earlier this year for $169.99+tax. This is good price for a refurbished model.
Not very powerful when I spilt oil on the driveway.

WilfBrim

I agree with the general assessment. Stay far away. These things are the pits. I had a similar unit a few years back. It worked ok, until some water splashed into it. There was a buzz, a snap, and some smoke. It popped the GFCI on the plug, the GFCI on the circuit it was plugged into, as well as the circuit breaker.

I immediately decided that electricity and water didn't match here. I threw out the burned out hulk and bought an electric unit from Costco. It had a Karcher pump with a Honda engine. Aside from having to lubricate a valve now and again, it rocks.

Go gas or stay home. Rent one if you can't afford to buy. This is a waste of money. Sorry Woot.

rantisdel

The entire Karcher Line leaps into the vacuum. They will sorta work for a little while and then they leak. The components are substandard and will not stand up to any sort of use. I have washed my lawn furniture 2 times and rinsed the driveway down once. Kaput end of Karcher scaffolding.

DO not buy and expect them to work other then the first time you plug them in.

maxis45

This is not a good product. I used to sell them at Sears and they did not work. Everytime one was sold it came back within 3 days.

Code10!

I own one these and after a couple of years it still works. I discovered that it stalls every time if you connect the hose and turn the water on full blast. The trick is to turn the water on slowly and squeeze the trigger. To much water pressure will stall the machine. Hope this helps!

greganddixie

These are garbage. I had one and it broke after less than a year.

Obviously you've never used a real pressure washer that you do have to put oil in (the compressor and of course the engine if it's gas powered), which is probably why the other user asked the question, balderee.

I bought one of these refurbished from a tool dealer. It worked for about five minutes. I returned it for a new one which also broke. Since their was no refunds at the tool tent I traded it for a new toolbox instead. Hope this helps.

spyderkeeper

NO electric pressure washer will do a good job cleaning anything but a car or maybe a porch chair. You're better off renting, buying a small gas PW, or paying someone to clean what you want. They do work really well for cars though. I would honestly recommend a stiff brush and bleach water over an electric PW for a porch.

Soapie0 wrote:Okay, I trust you guys. But, at that price we could get both the china cabinet and the pressure washer. We've never bought one and my DH told me to research it and find the one we need. What do we need? I'm just looking for a pressure washer that kicks butt and blasts the "mildew" look off the house. I like that this one had soap. Do they all have soap? Do they all have attachments?

Any reccommendations for a clueless wife whose husband assumes she can find anything on the Internet. I can! I found you guys who are going to tell me what to look for and what to do - right, guys?

Go to craiglist for the used china cabinet, and spring for a gas pressure washer.

mtoomey

These things are absolute junk. Have owned more than 1, unfortunately.

ScoopLV

Pity. I need a pressure washer. But not this one. Come back with something powered by a Honda engine, and I'll buy.

If you could steer your way clear to offer an eight-inch telescope, an MP3 player that has both loads of space and supports FLAC, and an audiophile-quality turntable, I'm in the market for those, too.

Two of my friends and I all have some cheap Karchers. I got mine off Woot about 2 years ago, and the others are at least 4 years old now. All 3 units still work great. They don't have the highest amount of pressure, but they do have the lowest price.

It's not going to strip paint or anything, but it will definitely remove surface dirt, so if you're looking for an inexpensive power washer to do some general household cleanup a few times a year, I recommend a Karcher.
