CommunityWootsAcer Aspire One 11.6” Netbook

Mine came today. It still doesn't show as shipped yet on my account page. So far, so good. I'm actually using it now. The only thing I can tell that's any different from my desktop and my laptop is that it's slightly slower. Oh well, it's getting the job done and it's doing what it was intended to do. Oh yes, it didn't come with a book. What's up with that???

Mine just showed up as "shipped" at about 3:30 this morning, and I looked at the tracking number thing (that sent me to the other site showing where its at and stuff), it told me it was shipped on 11/2, and it will be here today. I'm playing hookie from work just so I can be here when it gets here. How does it actually come shipped? I know now that its a refurb, but is it just bubble wrapped in a big box or did they do a good job at keeping it safe? What came in the box, besides the netbook and power cable?

Mine came in a brown box with the Acer logo. It was pretty well packaged. Inside, it had the netbook in a ziplock type bag, the two power cables in sealed plastic bags, the battery in a plastic bag, one paper explaining refurbished items, and one other page (I think it was about warranties) and a couple of pieces of foam to protect it. That's all that was in the box. I was at least expecting a manual of some sort. I guess I can get it from the Acer website.

I was just about to post that I didn't get an eMail yet, but that it has been on it's way since Monday. Looks like you guys beat me to it.

According to Fedex, should be here on the morrow.

My Monkeys on the other hand (ordered 2 days before the netbook) aren't supposed to get here until Nov 11 of 2013 [I HATE Smart Post].

It just arrived.

You would be hard pressed to know this one was a refurb. The case is brand-spanking new, the keys are crisp, the display bright.

I figured on some scratches and such, but this one is perfect. Excellent!

Mine was delivered Fedex today. Can't wait to get home and crack it open. Anyone know the Mah rating of the three-cell battery? I am considering getting a larger battery on ebay. They seem to run about $50 to $60 with shipping.

Received mine today too. The case and everything is fine, but the display is defective. The top of the screen gets shaky, and then the entire display goes crazy like the timings are off. After about 10 seconds it goes back to crystal clear and sharp. Even happens in the BIOS screen. First time I've received a defective refurb and doesn't make me think very positively of Acer.

I was wondering if any other folks had trouble with their battery not being recognized by the computer.

I looked at Acer support and they recommend getting the latest BIOS for the issue (I am apparently already running the latest) and I tried some other tricks but nothing has worked.

I haven't had a chance to call Acer yet but I wanted to know if I was the only one.

My battery worked fine. Mine actually had a very old BIOS and I upgraded it hoping that would solve my problem. Nope.

Make sure you call the number on the warranty paper that came in the box. Acer will tell you the warranty is expired. You have to go through 'Seneca Data Distributors' who apparently did the refurbishing.

It's unacceptable for a refurb to arrive defective. Sure, maybe it'll have problems later, but this stuff should be checked when the machine is refurbished.

After getting two 10.1 netbooks (one at Walmart $299, one reconditioned here for $229 the 10.1 model keyboard was too small for my taste. Got this one and it is the perfect size but I believe the keys are actually larger than a normal size keyboard? The difference in 1.5 inches is quite an improvement between the two size netbooks. Don't notice it being slower than than the 10.1.
Selling one of the 10.1..sure don't need 3 netbooks for two people + a full size laptop!!

This netbook was DOA.

The Acer 10.1 I bought had a "User Guide" on the hard drive. The folder was called "Book"
