interesting. thoughts? I'm looking for a smaller tv for the bedroom.

I'm also looking for a new 46-50 incher. Would I do better to go to PC Richards and bargain with them for a good deal on 2 tvs?

kerplunk17

If I didn't just buy a new 32" LG LCD for the bedroom I would be all over this, even if its a refurb.

I have this TV, and I have developed quite a love affair for it. Very nice unit.

Your LG is probably much brighter
Contrast ratio (typical): 2500:1 is not so bright...but at this price...meh-ish

We have one of these - It's not too impressive. Sometimes the sound will sizzle and decrease in volume for no apparent reason. The picture quality is great, however, so if you wanted to hook up a stereo system to the TV, this is a great buy.

I need something around a 22 or 23" to fit where I need a TV in the bedroom. This one is too big.

Pixel Plus, is a proprietary digital filter image processing technology developed by Philips, who claims that it enhances the display of analogue broadcast signals on their TVs.

Pixel Plus interpolates the broadcast signal to increase the picture size by one third, from 625 lines to 833 lines. It also doubles the horizontal resolution, although each horizontal line is analogue.

aaahhhhh turn the price upside-down and you get 666 muhuhahahahahah evil woot. First it was a sucky woot-off that I wasted my time with, then it was leaving the lights on the sold-out monkeys, now it's a tv I don't need. Time for sleep, see you just before Christmas to try again for another Bought On Credit.

Pixel Plus is a Philips' technology. It's basically designed to enhance the the picture of an analog signal, or boost your current HD signal. Although it does not actually enhance the signal, it increases the picture for the viewer. It does this by increasing the pixel count of the image.

seems like a terribly low resolution for a 32" tv, and frankly it will be pretty noticeable

Man, don't you check other deals websites?
This price leaps into the vacuum.
New egg just had a Panasonic TC-L32X1 32" 720p LCD $334 after Bing CB, and that was a NEW set.

There is no such thing as a TV too big. You just need a bigger space to hold it.

Pixel Plus review from hometheatermag.com

The more you watch a Pixel Plus 2 image, though, the more you notice its effect on the picture. For one, it makes every source look like super-detailed video. You don't have to be an expert to notice that film-based sources no longer look like film. Second, the way images move on the screen is slightly unnatural. I liken the effect to the way a pan-and-scanned image looks on a 4:3 TV—when the image moves so you can see what's on the outer edge of the frame, you can tell it's not a natural camera movement. It's almost too fluid.

Depends on how much you want to pay and how nice/strong you want it to be. VESA is a well-established standard, so all kinds of manufacturers make VESA mounts at all kinds of price points, with varying amounts of articulation, flexibility, and capacity. A really cheap one might only tilt up and down, for instance.

I bought a referbed Westinghouse from woot for about the same price and COULD NOT BE HAPPIER WITH IT. Don't let the fact that it is referbed get you down. I'm sure this is a great TV too.

w116tjb: At least post the whole thing...

Not a clue which version of pixelplus this one is though.

from wikipedia:
Pixel Plus, is a proprietary digital filter image processing technology developed by Philips, who claims that it enhances the display of analogue broadcast signals on their TVs.

Pixel Plus interpolates the broadcast signal to increase the picture size by one third, from 625 lines to 833 lines. It also doubles the horizontal resolution, although each horizontal line is analogue.

Other features include motion interpolation, a processing technique that interpolates (or creates) video fields (or frames) by analyzing fields (or frames) before and after the insertion point. This process is primarly focused on film based content which is filmed in either 24fps or 25fps. The motion interpolation function of Pixel Plus is an alternative to 3:2 pulldown processing with is the standard process of converting film to video.

In 2005, Pixelplus 2 was launched. This version was the first to be able to perform motion reinterpolation on 480p and 576p material.

In 2006, Pixelplus 3 was launched. This version was the first to be able to perform motion reinterpolation on 720p and 1080i material, except for US products.

In 2007, Pixel Perfect HD Engine was launched. This version was the first to be able to perform motion reinterpolation on 1080p material, and introduced 720p and 1080i motion interpolation in US products.

I don't have a fancy technical description for you, but let me just say that it does increase picture quality a bit. I own a 37" Philips with Pixel Plus, and they have a side-by-side comparison mode built in to the TV. It is pretty cool, actually, and you can definitely tell the difference between Pixel Plus and just regular.
