Wow -- I think I'm going to have to brush up on my Mad Men for this contest...

never seen it. time to hit hulu.

For those of us who don't watch Mad Men, is there something special about the ad style and humor? Or does this basically mean: create a 1960's styled ad for a Woot product? Maybe I just have to watch the show to get it? I'm too lazy to actually watch it and find out...

I just watched the first episode and it is more clever than funny. In the episode, the end result for advertising lucky strikes cigarettes when the government had just labeled them as dangerous, was to label the brand as "toasted" to get away from the poisonous image.

So take that I guess as you wish.

Thanks. I should come clean on that....it's a frame that I downloaded for Paint Shop Pro a long time ago. I just lucked out that the style and colors matched the picture of the lady. Probably should have included it as a source.

I'm completely new to these parts of the woot forums, but I thought these Photoshop/chop contests were too funny, so I decided to participate. I haven't seen Mad Men and the little bit of research I did didn't help me understand it, so if my picture just doesn't fit the theme then I understand. Thought I would give it a go anyways. I highly recommend reading through the original write up on the advertisement because my edited version correlates with it pretty well surprisingly. :D
